whafrog - thanks for posting your views, I know you're a long term SBG player and despite not actually seeing the rule changes, I've also got my doubts. From what I've heard I won't be buying the new books, too many changes, heading in the wrong direction. The new models I will probably grab though!

Fellowship members (only one per turn) get a very small chance to recover Might Will or Fate. Think shaman Fury saves...

Nothing new besides the minis that came out today. A few stat/cost changes here and there (troll chieftain came down in points haha) and a few upgrades, but that's all.

Besides, Beornings will be a hobbit release, surely...

Isn't GW planning to make a new game with the hobbit being released?
We have BOFA, but I am certain I read somewhere that there will be a new game.

I bloody well hope not. The only new game we need is a new version of the SBG.

Though Morgul Knights and Black Numenorean Marshals and Black Numenorean Catapult Crew are only in Mordor.

i got the fallen realms sourcebook and it was really a bit of a mix for me. i love having all the profiles for my uruks in there, but there is far to little background for my liking. it says on games workshops website it has detailed background information, but thats rubbish, to be honest i wasnt that surprised though as it is only 48 pages and includes isenguard, harad, and the east. however for a clever way of putting an army together and having all the profiles in one place, it was still a good thing to get.

as always with GW i was not impressed by the price, considering that the entire lord of the rings trilogy, over 1000 pages, i got for lesss than that.

LotR (which was written as a single book) has sold hundreds of millions of copies, which is why you can get it cheaper than these sourcebooks, which'll probs sell a half million or so. I thought that the scenarios in the back were a let down. I was hoping for at least 3, one showcasing each army.

I'm really glad to have the old sourcebooks for the fluff, it's almost completely absent from these which is sad

I purchased all of the new books. I have mixed views about them. I strongly recommend you find and buy all of the old books if you don't have them already.
I have resisted a lot of house rules over the years.* The new books make house rules almost mandatory.I don't play in GW shops so it won't make much difference what I decide to most of you. I hope this turns out to be some short term fix.It will be sad If this is how they plan to handle the Hobbit .

*I don't think my meaning is clear. I mean home made profiles more than rules variations.

The whole thing seems rushed imo. Like, the warbands system is a great idea but the actual books themselves seem like they were flung together in a hurry and not all that carefully.

Most things, or just LotR?
