The local shop is going to do a Staff challenge. You play a 250pt game against each of the three staffers and get bragging rights if you beat them all without losing. I think you have to keep the same list through out and I want to use my Angmar. I was thinking of maybe this list:

Barrow-wight 50pts
4xOrc Trackers 20pts
2xOrcs w/Shields 12pts
3xOrcs w/Spears 18pts
2xOrcs w/Two-handed Weapons 12pts
Spectre 15pts

Barrow-wight 50pts
3xOrc Trackers 15pts
2xOrcs w/Shields 12pts
3xOrcs w/Spears 18pts
Orc w/Two-handed Weapon 6pts
Orc w/Two-handed Weaponand Shields 7pts
Spectre 15pts

250pts

Certainly lots of bodies , but maybe not hitty enough?

Drop the trackers and get more orcs. Shooting isn't so promenant any more in my opinion

No don't listen to the above, Trackers are better than Orc archers and cost less, keep them, they arguably the best things in your list I think.

Perhaps an Orc Captain instead of one of the Barrow-wights for a bit of punch ? you could put him on a warg or give him a shield and bow. A Wraith instead of a Barrow-wight for an extra 5pts might do it either.
The THW in your second warband cant be armed with a shield unfortunately.

I didnt mean take orc archers, I mean TAKE MORE ORCS.
Bows are seriously nerfed now and having 7 evil bows probably isn't worth it when you can have 5 or 6 orcs instead to take it to the enemy.

But the trackers cost less so you can have more models.

You look at the set up for most missions and tell me how it isn't worse for your bows??
MOST missions have some sort of random set up OR you begin very close anyway.
Either option is not great for bows unless mounted.

Only half your troops will end up close, so if you intersperse your archers among your warbands, you have a good chance of you guys getting in good position. Besides, you have a 12in gap between you and the nearest enemy, and that doesn't take into account any terrain that you might have setup.

but 12 inches is just 2 turns. 6 trackers shooting a D6 man for 2 turns is 1 wound on average. Even if it is 3 turns that is only 1.5 wounds.
Where as 5 or 6 orc or a banner gives you more chance of winning fights ... hence not dying, and possibly killing your opponent,.

Well, why would you only have 6 archers? If your entire warband is trackers, that's 6 hits, and 1 wound a turn, so 3 wounds in the 3 turns it takes for them to get to you. Better than 1 banner and 6 orcs for the same number.

In a 500pt game yes 12 trackers for sure.

Thanks for the replies guys. Would 250pts be to few to stick the WK on a Fellbeast in? Something like this:

Witch King of Angmar on a Fellbeast w/3 Might, 15 Will, 3 Fate 175pts
6x Orcs w/Shields 36pts
6x Orcs w/Spears 36pts

Lol, when I write out, it looks like an even smaller list on paper than in theory.

I was also thinking of taking a dual Troll goblin list:

Gundabad Blackshield Captain 45pts
Cave Troll 80pts
Cave Troll 80pts
5xGoblins w/Shields
4xGoblins w/Spears

Trolls are pretty tough and hitty, but maybe too easily ganged up on at this point level?
