OK - managed to finish 40 uruks over the last 2 weeks. I am pretty stoked about how quick this was - and that they turned out pretty good considering.

Just have another 80 plastics to do - and then 50-60 metals......

I pretty much used the recipe posted by Gothmog from GW except I painted the wood khermi brown to give the minis a bit more variety. Cloth was all scorched brown with beastial brown highlights (these were rough as guts).

All minis dipped in army painter dark tone then brushed with baddab black to get the finish back to matt and give the beasties an even darker tone.

Next 40 will have a different skin tone (not sure what yet), though everything else will be the same.

I'm becoming a bit of an uruk connoisseur lately... and I must say these are excellent uruks!! Great skin tones, very nice flame on the torch and painted in great time aswell without sacrificing the quality. Keep it up! :)

OK - knocked off another 40 Uruks - 80 down now and 40 more plastics to go. I used chardonite granite for the skin this time. Happy with results. Will try a different skin colour for last 40.

Thanks for all the comments guys - much appreciated. :puppy:

@Lord Hurin - yeah, I'm doing 3 x 40 with each 40 having a different skin tone. I usually split the 40 into 4 batches of 10 and complete these before moving onto the next batch. It's actually pretty quick if you just paint one colour on all 10 models before moving to the next colour. And I spend very little time on highlighting, letting the toner and shade do the work.

Which skin tone are you doing next? So far it seems that you've done GW's scheme, Mordor Uruks' scheme. What's the third and final one going to be?

Not sure yet. To be honest I didn't know the granite colour was an Uruk scheme (I rarely follow paint schemes - the standard GW uruk scheme was my first) - I just liked the colour.

I want to try something lighter for the next skin tone so maybe a mustard/yellow or even a dirty flesh tone - might even try mixing a flesh tone (eg tallarn flesh) with a yellow or green to see what it looks like.

Made some progress. Completed my first 'orc of the red eye' from Harlequin miniatures. I have about 20 of these to paint plus 20 'orcs of the white hand'. Also posted some photos of my uruk warband that I did for the painting challenge.

Love the grey-toned Uruks. That's a great way to break up the monotony, but fits right with the color scheme.
