Commonsense says that people have seen both trailers, and maybe Peter Jackson's video blogs, plus official stills released to IMDB and others, images of toys from recent conventions SO we have a fair idea what to expect. Apart from the pricing...

As said in the chat box, the releases on Nov 3rd ... There don't seem to be any big boxes, just sort of blister type things... I mean, there IS room for something big that day... We can live in hope?

Do you have a list of what is to be released? I'm sure you're not allowed to give away too much at the minute though

But other firms will release their toys in November and GW released their miniatures around the same time when the Fellowship of the Ring came out in 2001. It's a common marketing strategy.

The worrying thing about the release date is all the rumours (and the GW teaser video) about Warhammer Chaos pre-orders on the 27th.

I just thought I'd post what I said in the chat room here.

Past experience, a gut feeling and a word with my GW manager had me ready to place a heavy bet on the reveal/pre-orders this weekend with the release following the weekend after. However, seeing this announcement for Warhammer Chaos has really thrown a spanner into the works.

I suppose they could bring out the two in tandem, but I would've thought it'd make sense to release them separately and allow both to gain the attention they deserve.

Speculation of there being no boxed set is surprising, and also rather disappointing. I had high hopes for a set similar to the recent Dark Vengeance release.

Ultimately we'll just have to wait and see what Saturday brings us. In all honesty though I'm finding that my initial excitement is steadily turning into a jaded feeling. All the secrecy and hush-hush, then sudden announcement for the other formats is starting to wear me down

Got to say I’m really disappointed, I was looking forward to an afternoon with everyone else out on Saturday and enjoying the new White Dwarf. But no Hobbit, and Warhammer instead and not just Warhammer but Chaos, very disappointed.

This is almost as sad as the song played in the background as Gandalf falls and the Fellowship mourns his loss.

I love the song and am listening to it now which seems strange as this news comes up.

well that seriously saddens the mood and my anticipation for the new release...might as well give us a date then and avoid the speculation online..peoples hopes go up, followed by a huge let down. not improving any customer relations that way. oh well more time for the new videogames that come out then...have to admit i aint all that fuzzed bout the new release

ppfff this really dampens my mood for today..

Looks like I'll have more time to save money. Not that it means I can buy more models expecting a price increase.

I left a message on local GW's facebook page asking whether the events they'd planned for 3rd November had been postponed. Ok I wasn't expecting a straight answer, but instead my post was completely removed!!
