This is just stunning! Simply amazing work here.
I love how you subtly blended some other colours like purple into the mix (and for the face). Makes it look really special!

Is this a Golden Demon entry?

It definitely should be. He is great. And an article about colour theory would be very educative. Although I think it would be really easy to find one online. :dmf:

Fantastic work on Gandalf! Is this piece going to be included in a diorama with the Balrog?

Mig painting?! This can't be right! Great work man, and nice to see you've brought out your paints again. You've truly captured the moment with your painting here in arguable one of the most stirring moments in the trilogy. Keep the hobbying coming, and hope to see you on chat soon. 8)

P.S. Has there been any progress with the building project? or is that on hold

And I'm calling this one done... and yes, I might do a diorama with this mini and the Balrog, assuming I actually finish painting him.

Hmmm... what to paint next... I think Bart inspired me and I'm gonna go for some babes too.

@Drummy: It's on hold. I didnt give up, I'm just not in the mood for now. But I'll make it!

Fantastic Gandalf, but if I may nag a bit: is he really quite brown or are my eyes cheating me?

It's to show the lighting from the flames of the Balrog.

Quite fantastic if I do say so myself Miguel, this could easily win Golden Demon I reckon!

Well, since its now Hobbit month in OR, I guess its time for us to start painting a few!

I'm currently working on Frodo from the original Fellowship of the Ring boxed set that I started last weel. Here's how he looks for now.

Mister Frodo looks fantastic. The only thing that bugs me about the sculpt is that Sting is too thick - there's nothing we can do about that unless you want to try paring it down to a more realistic thickness but then the white metal would bend or break too easily.

Thanks folks! :D

I agree with Dorth, a lot if not most of the LOTR minis have way too thick weapons. Its very noticeable in this one. Other brands make these parts much thinner and a lot more elegant, but also a lot more 'bendy' and more prone to break. I guess this is something that GW took in consideration when making it.

Anyway, some more pics:

Looking good. The face needs a bit more work imo, but the cloak, backpack, and waistcoat are all looking really nice. :yay:
