Just came from my local store (an affiliate supplier) and after a disappointing attempt to get myself a copy of "Mine of Moria" the owner confirmed that the new box set is set to release first week in Dec.

He also told me the title would be "The Hobbit, something something" - he wouldn't tell me the whole title, but it will be based on the Hobbit. He didn't have anyother information, but he is a big LoTR's player so he is also climbing the walls in anticipation.

The only reason why they would rebrand is because it's the new thing. I doubt thta the rules will change enough for any of us to get mad, maybe just changing to make it wit with the hobbit a little bit better.

I noticed that too, but the arrowheads kind of look like the spear tips on the original plastic goblins. My guess is it has to do with the Great Goblin.

Hmmmm something just doesn't seem right about that logo. The logo maybe genuine but it just doesn't work with the background. I have a feeling its a fake.

That's the background used for each range if you go to the gift guide section, so it is not specific to the Hobbit. I'd say it's supposed to be a sort of pictorial pun using chaos stars doubling as snowflakes - the gift guides are for Christmas.

I think it actually lends credibility to the idea that it will be more like an update, like edition changes for WFB and 40K. The "Strategy Battle Game" bit would seem odd if it were an entirely new ruleset.

The Goblin King currently available to purchase is either Durburz or Groblog, both of which are completely different to the Great Goblin that may or may not be included in The Hobbit boxed game. If you want a Moria Goblin army, I'd definitely suggest Durburz, he's great. Groblog I have but haven't used or played against. On paper he's a good support Goblin.

Yeah there's a lot of hate from 40k towards Lotr, it's like they believe we "steal" their release slots or something

Though then again there has been very few books released this year for fantasy and 40k... and that's because if GW made looooads of cash this year, the shareholders would expect it every year, so with the Hobbit planned to make them a small fortune they've held back on some books.

Though im looking forward to the Hobbit release so much more!

I was wondering about the attitude myself tough. especially on that blog. Its all 40k and warhammer fantasy (but much less). there have been 2 hobbit posts and they all go nuts.... :-)
