I have absolutely no use for 28mm Persians, but at $3 for 12 miniatures, I literally could not resist. I just placed an order with some square bases.

I got the horses off ebay. Here is the link to the auction.

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/SAMURAI-CAVALRY-BITS-12x-HORSES-Wargames-Factory-/360506139009?pt=Games_US&hash=item53efd72181

*Edit*

Jamros, I know what you mean. They are just soooo cheap, you can't help but get some.

I did some more work today. I've got the assembly line down, I work on filing and hacking away at guys until my fingers get sore from holding the guy's torso, and then I switch off and sculpt one side of the cloth extension. Here's a picture of the wip cloth extensions guys, and a picture of the first 'complete' guy. I will probably add a back-banner to get that classic khand look yet, so he isn't 100% done.

Also, one quick question for those of you who have used liquid green stuff; would it be good for gap filling on horses? It's really fiddly to fill those thin cracks in between the halves with normal procreate, and so I thought that liquid GS might be the best thing.....Also, as the WF guys are multipart, would liquid GS be good for filling in around the warriors arms/heads after I attach them?

Pictures.....

:-X They're not ponies! :-X

In all seriousness though, they do look a little small in that picture. However, I lined them up against a haradrim raider, and the horse, (and rider) are exactly the same size. So....

hmm i feel like it's the proportions of the riders that make it seem like it. I just watched the head of one of my rohirim near that one of his horse. His head is alot smaller.
Don't feel sad tough, u did great work and i think they look awesome. Didn't mean to insult u :) (My favourite one is the first one from the left :) ).

The persian figures are bigger and make the horses look small.

I'm loving this project! Oh god give us more!

I got tired of cutting and filing and sculpting, so I went back to painting! :D
This is the same batch of guys that I was working on earlier. Only a couple more cloth colours to do, and then all the little bits and bobs, as well as their weapons...(Only a couple of quick (bad) group shots for now, I'll get some better ones once they're finished)

Love your paint scheme. The heads on the wargames factory guys are just too big for me to buy. Now if I can just find a pile of in scale heads...

I really like the jewel that I got on this guy's turban; it's the best one I've done so far, imo. DMS's guide really helped, until now I wasn't highlighting up to white on the bottom edge, I was just putting in the white dot. That last white highlight on the bottom helps balance the whole thing out, and makes it actually look 3-d.

Awesome harad men mate. I had been waiting ages to see these finished. Safe to say they are fab, love the dark skin tones and contrasting bright robes :)

A quick update. I didn't have any motivation to continue on my scratch sculpt of suladan (I think I bit off a bit too much....), so I decided to convert one of my many persian figures instead. I had to cut away the tabard/skirt thing, and then I've sculpted on a couple of grieves. I also did some more work on his swords. (there's two as I'm hoping to make a foot and mounted version)

I will add a couple of straps to hold the grieves on, and also put a gem on the pommel of the second sword.
