Had to restart the Fell Beast, wasn't happy with the way he was turning out, so while I'm waiting for the new undercoat to dry, here's something else I've been working on:

Image

Image

Fairly basic conversion... if you have the parts (I didn't, haha). The horse was missing two legs so I had to graft some on off a spare plastic horse and model the muscles to make it look natural. The pose is pretty cool imo and I'm liking the way the base is turning out. This is what the original model should've looked like (I think):

Excuse the poor photos - it's very dark in Switzerland this time of year :O

Thanks for the comments, John Wayne!

Here's the finished and based Nazgul:

All that's missing is a full moon in the background...

Witch King on foot to come shortly, just finishing off the base.

Looking very good! I think the new mounted pose is far better then the old one. You're turning into one of those sculptors where I think "Why didn't GW hire him/her?" :P

We had a bit of snow - three bits of snow, actually - but they all melted away before 48 hours had passed (and thank God for that, bicycling 13km through the snow isn't fun).

The Witchking on foot is an excellent sculpt - one I have been fond of for a very long time. But your converted mounted version is extraordinary - it oozes power and majestic malice. I like it a lot!

I do beleive there is a similar witch king mounted model posing like yours.. i do have 1 that is very similar to that guy
I think its OOP since I dont see him on GM website, still heres the link of the model that looks similar to that guy

http://images.wikia.com/lotr/images/9/9 ... _Horse.jpg

Where you see it? go to the old scourcebook Fall of arnor, you will see the model there :)

Thanks for that, Galanur! As most of the parts were missing when I received it, I thought it was the GW model I posted earlier. And I actually saw that mounted Witch King on the GW website at the beginning of the week but by Wednesday it had disappeared! Weird...

Still, funny how I made it look like an existing model, pretty much by chance! And thanks for the nice words everybody else!

The fell beast is really annoying me, no matter what I try it just doesn't turn out the way I want it to... :@

Thanks a lot for looking in Rognarr! Do you have a page where I can see some of your work? And: Du kommst ja aus Deutschland, sprichst du Deutsch? :)

I've been rather busy with my other WIP, converting and painting the Escape from Goblin Town boxset (see here if you're interested), so excuse the lack of updates!

I've recently been scouring ebay for trolls and have got a few on my workbench...

Buhrdur

I LOVE THIS SCULPT. He looks amazing and I was chuffed when I could get one for pretty cheap.

Image
Image

Only a little conversion, his arms are at a slightly different pose and I greenstuffed some fur to make his pelt-shoulder cover thing match up. I also put him on a cork rock to make him taller, as I realised he is much smaller than my other trolls!

Mountain Troll

This is the first of two Isengard/Mordor troll conversions and as I mentioned, they're a whole head taller than Buhrdur, who's supposed to be the Hill Troll Chieftain haha!

Image
Image
Image

I used a mix and match of different parts off the sprue to give him a similar look to Buhrdur. Different inspirations were a few good Hill/Mountain troll conversions I saw on here (sorry, can't remember whose) and Dave's Stone Giants. I'm quite proud of how the fur cuffs turned out, the rope-like material is left-over Christmas ribbon.

Goblin King

Image
Image

And a quick update on my Goblin King from my other thread. Just need to fill the gaps and he's ready to paint!

I still have one troll left unassembled so there's more to come :)

You're welcome Matt!
Here's my thread: http://one-ring.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=24858 and I will update it with some Rohirrim soon. (Conversions will come too! :) )

And yes, ofc I can speak German! ;) Kommst du auch aus Deutschland? Oder warum sprichst du deutsch?

Your trolls look great! I am actually looking for a Buhrdur too!

And your Goblin King is just amazing! Great pose and nice detail with the scribe on his shoulders! :D Did you know the skulls on his scepter are his ex-wifes?

Back to English... Thanks for the link, I'll check it out :) and danke sehr for your comments on my trolls and Goblin King! I only recently found out about his ex-wives, how cool is that, eh? :D

Cool conversions Matt, I really liked how you used the ribbons. Was going to ask when I first saw them. ;)
