I really love the basing scheme!
really looks like they're jumping out of the wild to attack the enemy! :yay:

Thanks Green_Dragon! Have a couple of one ringers to thank for inspiration (making the rangers look specifically grey company and not generic by using The Fang and Dawnstone as well as Caliban Green)

As for the basing, I'm surprised at the good response! I wasn't sure whether I liked it

so thank you, gives me confidence going forwards considering these were my first ever models.

Okay, so spent the day getting the browns and base silvers onto the 16 rohirrim and about to add the flesh. Waiting on the bronzes and golds to arrive before I give them a wash and start highlighting but pictures of my start are up!

Couldn't help but take another shot of my Ranger warband either, making a last stand...

Love that last photo, Thermo, you really did the models justice! Looking forward to seeing your take on the Rohirrim, too, it's a bit too early to offer any praise but I'm certain they'll turn out brilliantly :yay:

Sure! Monotone_Matt and Crucifer have got great guides that I used though so might be worth searching this WIP for those links... I wouldn't want to water down their great advice!

So, whilst waiting for my golds/bronzes/reds to arrive so i can finish the Riders of Rohan base colours, I have made a start on some other models.

Tonight, Erkenbrand foot and mounted got primed, as did Eomer foot, the remaining 12 rangers of arnor and the 3 rangers of the north that arrived today!

With the finishing rohan paints still in the post, I set about completing the Grey Company and have started to apply the "grey" to half the models and the rangers of the north...

Since I have all the colours for these models, I'll try get them finished this weekend/Monday! Then it's only 3 x rangers of the north and 1 x arathorn away from being the completed force

What colour did you use for the cloaks?

The colour is called The Fang... Grey but could get away with being blue.

how are you getting on with yours buddy?

It's alright buddy, I was the same! Check out the first page of this WIP and it should list all the colours. Think the green is Caliban

Thanks my friend! Been a bit braver the second time around. With the first rangers (the ones you see completed) I was less generous with the paint, which I kept watered down. It was more forgiving but it did mean the models remained quite dark until the highlights as they are primed black. So experimenting with the next 12, really blocking the base colours to see if the shading will stand out more and hopefully meaning I can be more subtle with the highlights...

Thoughts?

Thanks buddy! Still no bronzes, golds and reds so Rohan will have to wait!

But it is the turn of green cloaks on the rangers tonight so will try get another pic up before bed
