Oh I'm buying the Rivendell Knights and Elrond. I was going to buy two sets of Rivendell Knights but at their current cost I'll buy just one box and buy a second one when Lindir comes out to spread out the expense.

Still loving the knights and I guess the extra plastic for their long cloaks is the excuse/reason they charge more for them. The casualty looks cool but they take up alot of plastic and space which could have been used for more weapon options. about £25 inc P&P from green dragon sounds like a decent price to me - we shall see how much I want them hehe.

I havent read this whole thread so im not sure if anyone has the same idea as me, but im a massive War of the ring fan, (at my local store an employee said that gw will go back to WOTR for the hobbit's battle of five armies, which sounds very possible) anyway, i love the look of those grim hammers and the elven knights, so im thinking of making an earlystart on the battle of five armies and make eaither a dwarf or elf WOTR army or combination of both, utisling a good amount of these new release as a base for the army. but yeh always love new gw plastic releases, not so keen on the finecast, the models and poses like perfectly acceptable though, just the material used is not.

Anyone else notice the rip off between the Rivendell Knights and the Hunter Orcs on Fell Wargs? The Rivendell knights aren't sculpted into the horses like the Orcs were on the wargs so you had to buy both the mounted and non ridden Wargs.

If there was any playable use for an Elf horse unmounted, I assure you GW would have sculpted the Elves onto the horse and sold a separate box of unmounted horse.

Well, GW speaking, these prices are probably what the entire rest of the range will raise to match in June. Lets hope not, but historically the higher priced items at the beginning of the year are an indicator on how they plan to change things in June...lets just hope that doesn't happen. (fingers crossed).

The other factor is the new 40k and general Warhammer stuff is priced way above the LOTR line. 10 models in the new chaos release is 50 USD! 50 dollars for 10 models and I know you poor Aussie and Canadian players are paying far more for them too! There is one figure, a medium base model that I think is 60 bucks. I just couldn't believe it!

I did get the eagles and found the models are somewhat worth the price I paid for them (though I think 35 USD) would have been pefectly acceptable. Luckily, at the time I split the cost of the box with someone else - as we usually play together -so 25 dollars on an Eagle didn't seem all that bad. I honestly can't say if I would have bought that box myself. But the models are fantastic.

From this release I will more than likely pick up one box of Grimhammerers, but then, I'll be done. I already have an Elrond so I don't necessarily need another one. Like the rest of you I had always bought almost everything that came out for LOTR, but I am being very picky about The Hobbit. It's not just the prices, it's the entire thing.

To be honest for those who are thinking about picking up the hardback, I would say to you strongly, don't waste your money. The Hobbit is so poorly done, it seems like, many aspects of this system were either never playtested or GW didn't care to go back and balance it out. It is all so slapped together, hardly streamlined and poorly designed. I mean this. I hate ripping on LOTR. I do. I have been a die hard fan and an active member of this community since I started playing LOTR on the day of the Fellowship's green box release. But what is going on with the Hobbit is ridiculous. It is just so poorly done. Except the new heroes (excluding the obscenely over-powered trolls) - are well written and a blast to play, 90% of the rest of the game is just awful. I will be posting my experiences playing this game on this site shortly. But I feel like I should do it in a different thread because I don't want to go off topic.

That's just my two cents.

See the poll for my thoughts on the non-Yazneg releases.

You must have a damn good job, Jake! I'm well behind on the releases, I still need Gwaihir, Eagles and Fell Wargs since my local shops aren't getting them in. Even with all the money in the world I wouldn't be getting things like Riddles in the Dark or Lindir whenever he comes out.

I need 2 boxes of Fell Wargs ad Azog from this movie. I might get Yazneg/Narzug and some more hunter orcs but that isn't that likely. And I'll get the sourcebook, if they come out with one.

Why not Lindir? I thought he was pretty good in the game in accompaniment with Elrond.

Meh, I'm just not into the character or the hype surrounding him.

Have you seen his special rules? It's not hype when you got rules like that.

I'm sorry I just had to laugh at this. Before it was metal that was costly, now the excuse is that they're using more plastic, I guess it must be valued much more than gold on the stock exchange.

I like some of the new models too, but just like some of the others on here, I'm not buying. I'm glad to see some people are wising up to this and opening their eyes to the scam and price goudging that's going on. It's about time.

Like someone already mentioned previously, as a prediction they're going to have less clientel for the range which will drive them to spike the prices up and only the most hardcore fans will be left to cover the difference.

Glad I kicked this crack coccaine habbit a long while ago back.

It's not usefulness in the game that stops me from getting him, it's the fact that I don't like the whole "Figwit" nonsense. If I ever find the Rivendell Knights at a price I'm comfortable with paying, I'd get maybe a box and ally them to another force. They certainly wouldn't be a stand-alone army.

Isn't the Rivindell Knight's price due to havin armoured horses actually?

Lighly armoured LOTR (inc RoR, KoMT, Harad Raiders, Warg Riders) £18
Heavily armoured LotR (inc SKoDA, MK, Kataphrakts) £22ish
Lighly armoured Hobbit (HOoFW) £25
Heavily armoured Hobbit (Rivindell Ks) £30

This is the trend I see.

I don't like the whole casualties thing, personally. They sculpts themselves are decent enough but they just seem like wasted sprue space, I'd much rather have more options.

Really looking forward to the grimhammers, going to try to pick up a box of those on release day. I've been wanting good dwarf minis for a very long time now, hopefully these are just the first of many.
