Not much painting going to be done this weekend but a tidy up has been done and the armies are now out on display!

Also, here are a couple of snaps of some Fallen Dwarves. Really great sculpts these that I can't wait to start working on:

Nice collection!
The good thing on the shield of the fallen dwarfs is.. the ornament already looks like a dwarfen version of the eye.. boy! a black shield with a red-glowing flaming eye on it would leave a big impression! ^^

Am I right in sayaing that those trays are 2 pieces of MDF where a hole and the edges have been cut using a laser cutter (I see carbon marks around the edges from the laser lol)

That's right, they come from http://www.warbases.co.uk/ - great guys (met them a couple of times at Triples) and their service is top notch. I believe they will do custom bases as well though I haven't gone down that route, yet.

Thanks for the comments Sid, will let Amy know. The dwarves will be my next project (pushing in front of my Forge Father army) so you'll be seeing them soon! I actually just finished the last of the Black Numenoreans this morning which included the three Castellans I got for my bday and then undercoated The Mouth of Sauron. Looking forward to getting to grips with him as he's the reason I have so many of his brethren, love him in the films and book.
Amy has also been busy painting up the Willow Ent from MB along with some reinforcements for her Gondor and Rohan armies.
I have been taking some snaps along the way but haven't had time to upload them but hoping I will do later tonight while supping a nice ale.

A painted collection of lovely minis - I am jealous. Mainly because they are painted and tidy and visible whereas I have a Backlog that resembles a scrap heap.

Thanks for all the comments guys :)

Here's an actual update, finished the last of the Black Numenoreans and will be starting work on The Mouth tomorrow:

Amy has been working on her MB Willow Ent (looking lovely so far):

She has also painted up a unit of GW Dryads to stand in as Huorns in LOTR and also as Sylvan Kin in KOW, once all the skulls have been removed they work very nicely (I'll just have to photo them, a little remiss of me not to get any WIP shots).

C&C welcome as always

Phil

Warbases do custom orders. If you visit my blog and look at any of my Dux Bellorum or Dux Britanniarum (both sets of Dark Age Arthurian Britain rules) posts you'll see the armies on custom movement trays made by Warbases to my specifications. Just tell 'em what you want and they quote you the price - the more you order the better it works out in terms of postage, obviously, so get your mates to order at the same time to save money! They are a brilliant company whose service is second to none. They are UK based so I'm not sure what postage is like to Europe or the US....

Very cool models on this thread, by the way.... :yay:

Absolutely gorgeous work on those Castellans, mate. You managed to take a model that could easily be just another black and silver grunt and make it shine(no pun intended)

I'm really loving the Black Numenoreans too, would you be willing to share how you painted the robes on them?

Cheers Earendur, I'm also just finishing off The Mouth of Sauron at the moment and though he shares a similar scheme I've gone to town with him so hope he looks as impressive. Will put up images on Friday.

As for the recipe for the robes it's dead simple, first I use Flat Black from Vallejo next (and this will sound odd) I do a heavy dry brush of old Shadow Grey but use a very dry brush, this is followed by a light dry brush of Cold Grey from Vallejo but with quite a wet brush and only on the peaks.

Update time! Image heavy as well.

I've been working all week on The Mouth of Sauron in an attempt to give him the best paint job I'm capable of and in the end I think I've done alright. Would love to hear (or read) your feedback on him so I can see where I might improve.

First up the WIP:

And the finished articles:

Amy's also been busy, first up I grabbed a snap of her 'Huorns':

Then she's nearly finished work on the Ent:

As well as progressing on some new arrivals:

Next up for me are these fellows, who I've already started on:

That's all for now, C&C appreciated as always

Really liking the MoS, good job on him. The basing is also really good on him. Are two of those mounted wraiths conversions?

They look to me like they may be conversions of some Morgul Knights. Certainly, they use those horses.

They certainly are, the one one the right is the spare Ringwraith from the Fell Beat kit on a Morgul horse. The middle one had a bit more work done one him, the right arm and head are the last spares for the Fell beast kit then the rest of him is a Morgul knight which I then green stuffed the cloak on top of.

Nice, a good use of extra bits. 8) I just noticed you painted the horses a dark brown, rather than black. It adds some nice contrast. 8)

Thanks that's what I was going for, though as you'll see I've darkened the brown by quite a bit now.

Update time! The Ringwraiths are done, here are some further WIP shots then the finished products followed by what's up next (picture heavy):
