Just wondered what One Ring members think will be released with the second and third hobbit films. As far as I know, the only potential 'conflict' in this second film is the fighting between Thorin's Company and the Mirkwood Spiders, and Smaug attacking Lake Town. The character of Beorn only comes to his own in the climax of the Battle of the Five Armies laying seige to the mountain. How about this:
Hobbit II:
Spiders of Mirkwood
(Beorn)
Wood Elves + Elven King
Smaug
Men of Lake Town

Hobbit III:
Beorn
Goblins
Bolg
Wargs
Eagles

Hm. Interesting, but it's probably worth noting one thing:

Bolg is already a model, despite having not even ben featured properly yet (he's in the background during the Battle of Azanulbizar).

So, to me, I don't think it's gonna play so big of a role, movie wise. Chances are, they'll release the Elves of Mirkwood, maybe some spiders, and I'd expect Smaug. It's hard to predict, really.
Also, probably Bard the Bowman, and the Mayor of Laketown, simply due to their importance in this movie.

We already have a bolg mini though. There will be another necromancer model I reckon

With PJ adding into the films lots of background material from Tolkien's other books (as well as his own take on the plot) we may see more of Radagast, Azog, Sauron (necromancer) and Gandalf's journey to Dol Guldur. I am sure he will be setting up the plot for LOTR so may see the corruption of Saruman.

Might want to add a spoiler tag to the title of this thread if people are discussing the contents of movies 2 and 3.

I would guess there would be a new breed of Dol Guldor orc models. Gandalf (and IMO Galadriel) driving the Necromancer from Dol Guldor is also likely to be a fairly major set piece in film 2. Might see some new bat models, large vampire bats as opposed to a bat swarm perhaps.

The Hobbit rulebook also implies that the company get attacked by Wargs as they escape the Elven King in the barrels, not sure if that will require new models though as it's presumably the same Hunter Orcs.

Pretty sure Beorn will have a bit of action in film 2, possibly helped along by his beornings/woodsmen so they'll probably get models. I can't wait to see how he's dealt with in the rules, I presume you'd pay for him as the human and that he can transform into a bear if he passes a courage test or something, each profile will presumably have advantages and disadvantages, would be a very cool addition to the game.

There's also a fair few other named characters who are bound to get models:

Tauriel
Master of Laketown
Master of Laketown's manservant (the guy who looks like Wormtongue)
Bard

Along with generic captains of all the new troop types.

We'll also probably get at least one new sculpt of the company, possibly in webs, possibly in barrels, possibly just on foot. As well as new Gandalf, Bilbo, Radagast etc. sculpts

Certainly a lot to look forward to!

Beorn as bear and man will most likely be in the early releases for the Hobbit II. After all. Chronologically Beorn turns up before any more spiders or elves.

Yes, Beorn does turn up before the spiders/elves, but does not appear in any action scenes until H3. It strikes me that this figure will be a collectors piece only until we can field him in scenarios later at the Battle of Five Armies.

Well, he does point out to Bilbo the goblin and warg he killed to get information...I'd say it's pretty likely PJ would use that opportunity to throw in an action scene.

I suspect that we will get a Thrain gone mad miniature, that has the potential for an entertaining special rule and:

We are still missing The Witch King,
Dol Guldur Giant Bats,
and hopefully High Elf Guards with pikes as seen in An Unexpected Journey.

Hopefully some specialist wood and high elves in the fight against the necromancer, and maybe some troops from Isenguard.

It also looks as if Legolas is fighting some orcs in Mirkwood. Maybe the big starter set will be Mirkwood Elves with Tauriel and Legolas fighting a specific type of Gundabad orcs and spiders.

I would also expect there to be stronger types of orc or Goblin from Dol Guldur as Bolg is expected to be guarding the dungeons there and is bound to have his own forces.

Smaug, Beorn (hopefully with other Beornings), Thranduil, Mirkwood Elf command, Armoured Mirkwood Elves, Gundabad orc Command, possibly the company in barrels? Master of Laketown, men of Laketown, Bard and any other characters from there. Is Dain Ironfoot expected to make an appearance?

Interesting points about the Necromancer, I hope we do get to see some Elves with Galadriel attacking Dol Guldur with the White Council...but that is more likely to be film 3. Based on the sneak peek clip of the film possibly another version of the 9 wraiths? I expect Azog to be released before this film or I will be disappointed.

Oh. Assuming Jackson pertains to the theory, there may be a new Khamûl model, for when he stood as lieutenant of Dol Guldur.

As for Dain, I believe he's expected to be in the third film, however adding him into the second would give more time for characterisation which is sorely needed, so maybe.

And what about Cirdan, Glorfindel en Erestor, they're from the White Council. Would love to see them with a new design.

I'd be shocked but pleased if those three made an appearance later in the films; Cirdan not appearing in the White Council of the first film annoyed me a lot, and I'd actually quite like to see Jacksons interpretation of Cirdan and Glorfindel a lot. And an unarmoured Erestor would be divine.

I don't know why but I wouldn't be surprised if we see some kind of goblin spider-riders, I can picture them as a PJ creation in mirkwood

Some new Command Packs would be nice, with the Hobbit there has been no Banner Bearers or drummers/horn blowers

Very true, but the model will be finecast and will have no appeal to this collector  Little mater, "I've already got one." :P "Already got one?"
"I have seen it.It is very nice"

LOL Gorilla bear with axe. Crazy.
SPOILER

I think we will see the release of some finecast dwarves of the Iron Hills and a new Dain - I think they will play a pretty big role.
There are lots of possibilities for different versions of the company - wrapped up by spiders or in the barrels for starters, maybe even in the prison. Other than this I think the film will have a leaning towards the attack on Dol Guldur with a token amount of elvish backup - enough for new models. Definitely going to see some new spiders though.

I've just noticed how... I'm gonna say bad, yeah, just how bad the new Gollum minis look. A new Gollum model would be nice, maybe one of him just.. on the floor, for once, rather than a rock or boat of some sort.

Let's do a minor recap of all this then:

Thranduil
Legolas
Tauriel
Mirkwood Elf Command
Knights of Rivendell Command and possibly on foot models

Gandalf (Dol Guldur)
Galadriel (Dol Guldur)
Saruman (Dol Guldur)
Elrond (Dol Guldur)
Radagast (Dol Guldur)
Glorfindel (Dol Guldur)
Cirdan (Dol Guldur)
Erestor (Dol Guldur)
Thrain (Dol Guldur)

Master of Lake Town
Masters Manservant
Bard the Bowman
Men of Lake Town Command
Men of Lake Town

Beorn
Beornings

Smaug

Necromancer
Hunter Orc Command
Goblin Command
Bats of Dol Guldur
Spiders of Mirkwood
Khamul, Witch King, assorted Nazgul (Dul Guldur variants)
Azog

That's quite a list we've compiled, and we've probably missed a lot anyway. I'm wondering if they may release some new miniatures over the gap, then a bunch once the film is released too, to sorta split the massive loads of the second and third film into four loads (wait for DoS, release of DoS, wait for BoFA, release of BoFA).

I'd also just had a small realisation; we don't have any metal miniatures of Thorins Company yet. So, they'll probably get released some time soon as well.
