@Harfoot
You are making me blush! But thank you that really means a lot

@John Wayne
I'm afraid the only Rohan guys that I own at the moment is the command ones. And I'm not planing on getting anymore atm since I got plenty of minis to paint atm =)

As of the real update guys, I just completed my Kili I know it took a while but since I started on him but I was not that thrilled to complete him for some reason.

and one of all the dwarfs as of now

But now that he is done I'm having a hard time choosing what to paint for the new painting challange. I know that it is Radagast but since all the Istari can enter I'm not sure if I rather paint Gandalf both are from the EFGT box. And I got another problem, I got my first painting commission which is Thror the last king under the mountain. The guy asked how much money I wanted for doing the paint job. I was thinking about 100 euro is that too much or too little? I will probably put in over 10 hours painting Thror.

So guys it would really help me if you choosed for me if I should paint Gandalf or Radagst, and if you think my fee for the paint is too high or too low. Cheers Cruci!

Wow, your dwarves are amazing, Bombur in particular is really well done, your clothing looks so natural - really great stuff!

I don't know. It really depends wht kind of standard you're painting him to. (it seems like you're going for a high one). Shoot dms a pm, he should have an idea, and, as Dorth said, check out some other people's prices who commision paint.

Some fantastic work on the dwarves and I can't wait to see how you finish off their bases.

On the painting front it's always a tricky one when money is involved. At the end of the day you don't want to sell your time short but you don't want to charge too much either. As others have said have a good look around at the prices being charged by others, then set out your stall and think are you charging by the hour or quoting a fixed overall price based on model complexity and what the customer wants.

Perhaps if you work out a figure in your head for a per hour rate and then calculate your charge based on what a client is requesting is a good way to go. That way if it's a tricky figure you are not in effect working at a loss but a fair rate for the complexity of the piece. If it's relatively easier then the price is lower too.

Hi guys it has been a long time since I visited the forum, I've been busy with a lot of stuff. I didn't manage to take a good picture of Thror before I parted ways with him. But the costumer was happy with him and the price =)

The only thing that I've painted since is Elladan for this months painting comp and I've started on Throin. It was really nice to paint a metal mini after I've only been painting plastic and finecast for a while now. But here is Elldan in case you miss him in the painting comp.

Lovely job and set off very nicely on the base.
Funny, he almost has a ghostly appearance.

Crucifer, you have managed what I, cynical old fool that I am, would have deemed virtually impossible: you have painted and based one of the Monkey Twin sculpts so well that it doesn't matter that his arms are too long - it looks astoundingly good. Really great work! So much depth and I cannot put my finger on it, but even though blues and greys predominate, it doesn't feel 'cold'. Great stuff!

Brilliant work...the figures look stunning. They have a dull, dirty but beautifully blended tone to them...simply love em !!!

I don't know if I will write a complete guide, but I can write a short rough guide for how I painted him.

The sword, chainmail and crown is just basic NMM.

I wanted him to work in my Arnor army hence the green cloak, but wanted to keep something elvish which is the blue shash and shirt.

The cloak is basecoated with caliban green and then highlighted with a very watered down Loren Forest. To finish it of with a very watered downed highlight of Administratum Grey.

The shash, collar and shirt is basecoated with Kantor Blue, then highlighted with a very watered downed The Fang and Hoeth Blue or Alaitoc Blue. Not sure which one I used. Last highlight is with Administratum Grey.

The vest and boots is Rhinox hide highlighted with Administratum Grey.

Skin is just a base with Rakarath Flesh and washed Agrax Earthshade and then highlighted with Rakarath Flesh on high areas and highlighted with Baneblade Brown in lower darker areas. Hair is Rhinox hide highlighted with some Baneblade Brown and Administratum Grey.

And that is it basically, I hope it helps!

Funny, he almost has a ghostly appearance.

I highlighted basically all with Administratum Grey, so that is why I may appear ghost like ;)

I never thought about his long arms lol

Here is my Gloin that I painted for the painting comp, I just tried making a snowy base for fun. I don't know if I'll do the rest of the company that way. What do you guys think?
