This should give you some ideas to help your photography. It shows you different sets up you can try out.

@Gandalf: Thanks for the link. I don't have a very good set up at the moment but I will work on it.

This weekend I made good progress painting up Kili, Fili and Gloin, but I'm a little disappointed in the results. I think I'm getting a bit overwhelmed by the job at hand and have started rushing things to get done. They look pretty decent but suffer at close scrutiny. Lots of touch ups needed...

Anyway, here they are:

Is there a reason for rushing, or is it just the excitement of finishing them ? Lets face it, we all suffer from the latter.
If it is just the latter, then slow down and take stock. Remember you are trying to I prove all the time, so aim toward a finish you want and slowly work your way there.

They look, really good, well done. Gloin looks amazing, but the photos of Fili are a bit blurry.

@Gandlaf the Grey
Yep, like you say it's just the exicitement of finishing the project and starting on something else. I was really keen to get these three done so that I could play through the first scenario as well, which I will hopefully get round to this week.

I'm definitely going to heed your advice though and take stock and picture what I want from the next miniature.

@LordElrond
Thanks, buddy. Gloin is definitely my favourite of the three.

Fantastic painting! I can understand the relief and excitement of completing a project but better to take a wee bit more time so that it is completed to the best standard possible. What does it matter if it takes a few more hours or a couple of extra days, when the minis may look slightly better for years and years to come.
It is very satisfying to look at something and feel a quiet inner happiness - thinking 'I did that'.

Welcome Bifur and Bofur to the party!

Both were quite tricky to paint with lots of details on the clothing.

We're on to the last stretch now. Only four Dwarves and one Hobbit to go...

Dori is done!

Really happy with the way he's turned out. I painted him over a couple days rather than one sitting. I think it helped slow me down and stop rushing.

Have you seen the milk bottle tip for photo taking, your models look great but I really think that using the milk bottle method would help us to see the detail in a close up or long distance as your models are great and deserve to be seen under best conditions, love dori so here the link ;

It's been a while guys!

Some of you may have seen that I've started playing through the scenarios in the set (#1, #2)

Well scenario 3 calls for a miniature I'd yet to paint, Nori. I'd already half painted Balin as well so this weekend I plodded on and got them done.

I'm not 100% happy with either so I may go back for touch ups. Certainly I'm going to be going back and doing something with bases on all the minis. Maybe just a highlight of baneblade brown, a few small rocks and a bit of static grass on each will do the trick.

Will be playing through and recording scenario 3 tonight hopefully, so look out for it on youtube soon :)
