Yep, as Draugluin says it's definitely a bow, you can see it in action in the first of these two new TV spots which, incidentally, look FRICKIN' AMAZING! :-)

I guess that's the first DOS related headache for GW then, FAQ Bolg to have a bow!

Whilst it's only brief I like the design, I think he looks cool and realistic, the shot of Azog running out of the light in the second one looks incredible as well. It looks like they've benefitted from the extra time they had to work on the CGI orcs this year. So pumped now, 4 MORE SLEEPS!

I much prefer the original design for its own sake, however, I do think the new one is a better fit for Bolg.

I'm not a huge Azog fan though (although discovering they had such a short time to create him lessens my irritation at the shoddy CGI) but I'm hoping that this time around he'll look better. For me, in AUJ he just stood out too much and looked like he was made of plastic.

Good observation, they indeed look similar. Plot twist, Bolg has a twin! Maybe that's not Bolg after all, just a common orc. I'll find out in 14 hours.

They look similar because its one wider picture with a smaller picture stuck on beside it - two pictures of the same orc beside each other. There's a line going down the picture about 2 thirds of the way along from the left.

I can confirm that this is the new bolg, and that he has a bow. He kept the club that the original had though.

Interestingly Smaug seems to have a fore arm/claw here, and Azog seems to be walking through some kind of force field?

I have just watched the two tv spots several times each (you can NEVER overdose on Middle-earth

) and this has whet my appetite even more for Friday.
I don't care which orc or goblin is in charge where: BAZ00KA the lot of them, I say!

I quite like the new Bolg too, though I'm disappointed that by Bridge Direct Figure is no longer relevant, but at least the old Bolg is the same size as the new Gundabad Orcs which is more important.

I'm still not happy though if it turns out Conan Stevens got screwed over. I liked him on Game of Thrones.

Hmmm... this new Bolg might be promising I suppose, he's just missing something unique, something that other orcs tend not to have.... Say, how about a long ginger beard all tied in dreadlocks? Maybe even cover up 95% of the bare skin with bulky rusted armour? And there could be all these grubby bones tied to the armour, maybe trophies from his victims? And how about we replace that silly little bow with a whopping great spiked club, similar to the Witch-King's flail?

Now, add all that in with CGI, and Bolg would be without doubt the fiercest orc in all of Middle-earth! :roll:
