Very cool idea! What are your plans with the bottom half?

Thanks!

Unfortunately, the lower half got mangled during the "operation." However, I do have a Gandalf the White barrel-rider candidate now! Haha.

That conversion works really well, the Radagast sculpt seems to lend itself perfectly to being mounted. Can't wait to see it painted up.

Very well executed. I would be tempted to alter the feet to radagasts odd shoes just to tie it together.

@skipinnish -- Yes, that's what I thought as soon as I saw that mini. In fact, I thought it was a little awkward for a foot sculpt, but perfect to put on a horse.

@Dave -- I agree that would complete the conversion, however, I couldn't sculpt anything like that if I tried. I am barely proficient at filling gaps at this point!

Welcome back Jonathan.
Nice Radagast conversion that's screaming out for some paint. Looking forward to seeing how your brush skills have kept together.

So, I borrowed my father's DSLR camera and built one of those milk jug lightboxes and man, did it make a difference! Here are some Giant Spiders that I completed:

Nice work! The painting and the pics are great. I especially like the spiders - top class and I can't fault them. The Goblins look good as well but my only criticism would be that the shading on the Goblins' skin is too dark for my taste. I find the black looks a bit unnatural. I think the skin area could do with a more life-like shading - for example Carroburg Crimson and Reikland Fleshshade or equivalents.

That being said, however, your scheme gives quite an unhealthy look so IDK. The shading can just look a little harsh in places and, IMO, perhaps lose a little of the pretence of a flesh tone. Just my thoughts - I'm no expert!

Thanks for the feedback! I knew it was going to be a bit different to go with the white/black flesh colors, but I wanted something a little different from most of my other miniatures (which almost always have some shade of brown in the mix). I was going for a pale, diseased look, which I hope I've accomplished. I am also a tabletop painter, and the contrast on these minis looks pretty good from arm's length, as opposed to the photos. That said, I may have gone a little heavy on the wash, so I will try to watch that on the rest of my gobbos.

Very nice photos - I know I bang on about it but what's the point of spending hours on a mini and then taking a snap that does it no justice. The light box is doing the job really well and the only thing I can advise is to watch that you are not inside the minimal focus distance on the lens (the goblin's head) - this can vary on a zoom lens depending on what focal length you are using at any given moment.
Spiders - a common basic theme but the markings give them a bit of individuality.

Thanks for the tip, Dorth. I am a novice when it comes to photography, so any advice is extremely welcome. I will try to watch that on my next set of photos.

Finished my EfGT Bilbo. I had forgotten just how tiny Hobbits are!

Tiny they are but that is a nice job you have done.
I've noted that you paint to a table top standard but it is a nice clean look you have given Bilbo.

Thanks! I am definitely a tabletop standard kind-of-guy, and these nasty cameras show off all of my mistakes. Haha!

I don't really like painting eyes onto model it looks creepy and scary a lot of the time.

I love the pallid look of your Goblins. They should be a real pale colour, living underground and I think you really captured that "horror of the deep" feeling rather than being fleshy lumps.

Nice work again - Hobbits are tiny. I've recently acquired a large bunch of Hobbits including a few characters like Paladin & Lobelia and they'll be great fun to paint with their being very small.

Oh and in regards to your Goblins, yeah I realise now that their colour scheme would give a nice, stark looking army with a lot of definition off the table.

I also paint to table top standard. The black spiders turned out well. The different markings stand out. 8) The gray goblin looks interesting. I might do a warband like that.
