I see his stats. Hes like a mix of a combat troop and at the same time a guy who can ringwraith a little.

Anyone ever seen him combat tested?

Because it seems like while he tries to do both, hes inadequate at both.

Your final line says it all lol. He's a sub-par combat hero with a little magic. Not very useful

I've never played with him, but he looks like he could be useful in smaller games. The magic doesn't need to be quite as potent as that of a Ringwraith and he has reasonable combat skills. Take him on a horse, transfix enemy captain, knockdown, kill, BOOM. You're up one hero. Plus he isn't totally useless when fighting troops like a ringwraith.

Any good? Well, its a very nice model, and suits plenty of Mordor themed lists. That's good, not the sort of "good" your looking for perhaps. Don't expect too much from the Mouth and you won't be disappointed, just listen to the violent vegetable's advice and you'd be fine.

I liked to combine him with Saruman because the white wizard cannot cast Sap Will. But that turned out to be not so very usefull since Saruman can cast a free spell every turn anyway.

He isn't too bad at killing weak F3 warriors, but how many of these are still fielded?

F 3 is still really common, just not in the front line. Either the front lads or the spears will have it in most "manly" armies.

I like how most people agree on adding sharkey in an isengard force but when it comes to the mouth of sauron people say no. They cost exactly the same and the mouth of sauron gets extra attack, defence and he can be mounted while the only real drawback is he casts transfix on a 3+ instead of a 2+.
I haven't used him but I can see him be very useful as a substitute for a nazgul in 500 points or less where people won't expect much magic to be going on.
Plus you can sap the will of shamans or have enemy wraiths spend some extra will resisting it.

Thats a funny observation. Good looking out! Yeah....I think the thing is that people know Isengard can only have Saruman or Sharkey for magic and the 110 pt price drop is a nice idea. For me, if I did wanna be a jerk and do it, Id probably choose the overall idea of allying in one mordor warband led by a wraith. Better magic, cheap, and some other warrior options!

As Klarion from Young Justice said, "They just don't make evil immortal sorcerers like they used to."

The best spells the ringwraith has access to are transfix and drain courage imo, which the mouth also has. The thing is the mouth has so little will you need to be lucky, as per Cirdan.

He's missing 2 things, heavy armor and Terror. D5 isn't high enough for him to be very survivable, and having to cast Terrifying Aura means he has to waste an extra point of will. If he had both of those, he would be great.

I think that the real question is if he is worth taking over a budget wraith.
In my opinion not realy as the wraiths courage is extremely important for the survival of any evil army. Unless of course you have fury or another high courage hero. Then I would take him over a budget wraith.
