Well it looks like the Gundabads will be added to my collection just as I thought (shame about the hole in my bank account though), Amy will probably pick up Beorn but will leave Thranduil - what were they thinking when sculpting that monstrosity?

Yeah, he does kind of! :o

The conjoined shields that seem to be connected to their armour is what kills the Gundabads for me. An odd design...

My opinions I suppose;
Girion, don't like the pose, I like action poses for heroes not static most of the time, I am sure they won't make another one (same company that made 3 Halbarad models, huh) so I will be forced to get it and deal with it.

Elvenking, weak.

Gundabads, the entire helmet design concept is horrible, but the poses are well done. I like that they turned the sword blades to the way I did mine on my Mauhir model, with the point down. I always thought that looked cool on uruks, pierce armour plate then drag the guy in and shred him... yeah. Only no orc or Uruk no matter how awesome looking will ever be good in a fight.

Beorn. Not a fan of Beorn yet from this film, even in the books I only liked the giant bear idea and not a transforming giant man idea. I want a bear form so I may get this one (means give up on a better one in next film).

After all these years, I may be able to just pass on an entire release. Lets see (I do like orcs so I may have to get some of those horrible Gundabads regardless).

Too bad the Girion miniature doesn't have a bow, his pose could imply a Wind Lance release in the future.

I'm glad I didn't buy Beorn a month ago right now!

My opinion, FWIW:

Thranduil - Uh, no.
Girion - Very nice! Will get.
Gundabad Orcs & CPT - Uruk-Hai 2.0. Pass.
Beorn & Bear - Very cool. WANT. This will probably be a crazy-expensive set in the US but I will spring for it.

I think they're all very cool though, and I'll definitly get Thranduil (I'm in need to try out a very bony colourscheme)..

The Gundabads look interesting. I would like to see an article of someone converting Uruk-Hai into them since the designs are so similar. That would definitely be a project I would like to embark upon.
Girion looks great and so does Beron, but Thraundil reminds me of the awful Monkey Twins sculpts.

I don't actually like Bear form, he looks like a gorilla :?
i actually laughed out loud when I saw dancey-pants Thranduil
I was never planning on actually getting any of these releases, finecast troops, no thanks. the only purchase i might have made was Thranduil on Elk, but i guess I'll have to wait till next year.

When I am rich here's my options
Thranduil - what the  is going on there - won't bother
Gundabad captain - everything but the winged helm is great. I think it will be easy to cut the wings from the helmet and make this one look decent
Gundabads - didn't like at first look, really like after 2nd look. Zooming in on piccys helps to show some nice detail. Head swaps might be an option here too.
Girion - yep. Interesting pose.
Beorn and bear - man pose boring, not really into bears on their own. Probably won't bother.

So all the G's for me when I have saved the necessary $$$$$$$

I don't know about you guys, but I think Gimli does it better

That Thranduil pose is hilariously bad. Goodness me.

Disappointed orcs are in clamps of three (obviously).

Girion looks nice :)

The thing I find weird about Beorn is that he doesn't really have any advantage in Human form. Sure, he gets +1 to wound and gives Stand Fast, but Bear Beorn is faster, stronger, tougher and all around better. I would have preferred there to be SOME significant advantage to Man Beorn, but that's definitely not gonna stop me from getting it. Looking at Thranduil again, the only use I can see for him is converting him to be riding his elk. Any other use for him looks ridiculous.

Where can I see this new Thranduil pose? The links don't seem to have him.

There are a couple things that give him advantage on human for...

1st hes a goad, you can exploit it easier to lure oponents to you.
2nd hes a smaller base which means he has to fight less models in base contact and can get through narrowed fights easier
3rd he can use stand fast
4th hes not forced to charge models
5th with a bit of luck he can get as same S striking with his axe as the bear and gain +1 to wound and no penalty wielding 2 handed
6th his heroic moves while on man form affect other models unlike the bear and he can be affected by other models heroic moves..
For example you call heroic move with other heroe to also benefit this model and engage something nasty, you do it, turn him into a bear then charge, few oponents remember that he can do this and still gain not only the bear´s massive profile, but also 2" extra of movement, along with the barge and all to clear way through the enemy force making your warriors able to engage wat is from your interest and shake the enemy line quite heavily :P

It's somewhat encouraging that they are devoting some space to our game in White Dwarf Weekly. Getting a BatRep is more than I was expecting. I guess we'll see what the actual content is, but I'm happy they are throwing us a bone, no matter how small.

There are a few unexpected models in this release including the beautiful Beorn on foot model and the goofy Thranduil model. The first Thrandiul was elegant and kingly this one is simply silly. However, I'm glad they are continuing to give us a few surprises.

The best way to support this game is to buy the models that GW is producing and hope they see enough reasons ($$$) to continue to produce more than the bare minimum. I'm still holding out hope for a second set of Thorin's Company as well as LakeTown Scenery...

Base size, and ability to hide in certain terrain.

The one on the top right I think (there's 6 links)

I see it now. Thranduil looks really lame. Why are we getting a second one?

with just the Hobbit, we got 3 radaghasts, 3 Gandalfs, 3 elronds already, Gollums and Bilbo's, 2 Goblin Kings, now 2 thraduils, 2 Beorn on foot...

Yet only one Thorins Company so far.

Just who the heck are the main characters of this shindig here?
