Need clarification on how this resolves:

Gondor has priority - no heroics are called.
Boromir charges 2 adjacent Nazgul.
Two Knights of Minas Tirith charge the Nazgul (One on each).
During Evil move phase, several orcs charge each Knight of Minas Tirith.

During the combat phase, does Boromir choose which fight to join?

My opponent's intent was to use Boromir's fight value to win combat and try to kill both Nazgul (knock down bonuses/lances from KoMT)...
The issue is whether or not the counter charging by the orcs pulls the Knights of Minas Tirith/ Nazgul fights separate & Boromir has to choose one to join or is it resolved as one large fight - which wouldn't make sense IMO?

Need justification for opponent.

Thanks!

Fights are only ever 1 vs X, where X is any number from 1+. So Boromir can certainly charge both Nazgul, but once the Knights have charged he'll probably be assigned to one Nazgul or the other, not both...except the Orcs change that again. The Boromir player doesn't get to pick either (necessarily), the player with priority arranges all fights so they are 1 vs X.

If the orcs charge only the Knights, then the easiest break up is two groups of orcs vs Knight; and then Boromir vs the two Nazgul. But if the evil player had priority, and wanted to preserve one Nazgul, they could break it up so that it's Orcs1 + Nazgul1 vs Knight1, and Orcs2 vs Knight2, and Boromir vs Nazgul2.

Thanks for the quick response.

I understand if evil has priority how they could choose to resolve the fights but if the good player has priority does he have no other option than to resolve in the easiest way?
Essentially, does the counter charge by the orcs take the Gondor player's advantage [of charging cavalry into the Wraiths] away? He would only really have limited options in terms of resolving the fights and killing the Nazgul outright...

Thanks again!

Basically, yes. The fact that he has priority means he can choose which fight Boromir joins IF there's a choice. It doesn't change the basic rules of splitting fights in groups of 1vsX.

He can resolve it any way he wants, so long as all fights are 1:X

The cavalry still retains their bonuses (+1 attack + knockdown), but it's not going to affect the wraiths if they're not in that fight, regardless of whether they were initially charged. Order of charging doesn't matter, the cavalry bonuses only affect the models in the fight after they are split up by the person with priority. From your description, it doesn't sound like there is any way to have Boromir and a Knight in any fight together, so the wraiths would never get knocked down.

Yeah I knew the cavalry retained their bonuses, just convincing my opponent why he couldn't use the cavalry bonuses against the wraiths after the orcs charged in was the issue. By saying charging order doesn't really matter, all is cleared up.

Thanks again for the responses.
