Can someone have a banner and a spear?


ALSO, does a bannerman with a shield have the upped defense for the shield, and can he use shielding?

Sure, just like you can have a banner and bow. You'd have to "drop" one to use the other.

I think there used to be restrictions on what they could use but no longer. So can have you banner with shield and spear or other weapons as per the main rule book FAQ :)

All that happens is he suffers the -1 to win as he's encumbered by its weight.

Ugly and not realistic but the most effective thing is to give the bannerman a spear keeping on the other hand. You can stay behind the lines and support too!

even safer behind would A pike be, but that is'nt allowed is it ? I thought a guard of the galadhrim court could carry a banner, but I figure he loses his pike since he needs both hands..

If you consider it by realistic view you can't, but if you take letter by letter the rules (sry I cant specify that but I ve reasearched for it in the past) you can.... Personally I dont ruin my miniatures for this, so it is just a mention..

Guards of the Galadhrim court can indeed pike support while holding a banner :D

That is good news :) , becouse I would simply make my guard holding a pike with a banner on it, that way the model looks good, and can support his fellow pikemen :-D
holding a pike and a banner would look stupid i think..
