What a beauty, anyone notice how the base width is the same as the mumak base? just longer.

I am really dreading/looking forward to sculpting my own from scratch with more limbs.

I think the model is just plain mesmerizing though, I think GW have put us all under the Dragon spell, especially when you look how fast it sold out whilst being a few months rent in India.

I don't post here nearly often enough but had to jump on to say that I got my hands on a Smaug. I couldn't resist, especially as I was expecting the price tag to be higher than £295. I'm one very happy customer. I'll try and get some photos for you guys next weekend.

Congrats to all that bought Smaug, looking forward to seeing pictures. I was hoping for something different for the militia, still might get some to adapt into farmer/civilians for Rohan. Don't understand how some can have chainmail under their cloaks but still have handmade weapons.

Maybe looted/scavenged goods? In the aftermath of a dragon attack, I'd imagine you'd be all too happy to grab a suit of chainmail, even if you only have an improvised weapon.

I agree, probably scavenged, but wouldn't you scavenge a weapon also? I just feel like the militia captain would have a better weapon than a boathook and something tied to a pole.

Any rumors for the next release before Christmas?
Anyone else thinks we will see a new box set as promotional for the movie?

Interestingly its about 600 NZD if I purchase through the UK online store but only 650 NZd if i but it from the NZ online store.

For once us folk down here aren't paying 40% more  :D

I just can't see it ever getting painted if I bought it. I'd be too scared to touch it with a paintbrush.

Yeah, I was braced to pay upwards of $700NZD. As a result, I ended up buying a few things today to fill in holes in my collection with the extra saved money.

Bring on the new year with more Smaugs!

Excluding smaug...which is a phenomenal miniature! (Largeature?) I'm really not a fan of the latest Laketown miniatures.

The bowmen look pretty cool....& I could see myself purchasing the Militia Captain...but he looks more like some kind of spellcaster in my opinion.

House ruled Blue wizard maybe?

Should be hearing of the new releases any time now, going by the 'schedule' from the last few weeks.

I really, really like the Laketown Militia. Very flavourful minis. Won't get too many of them, probably about six of each type, but I'll bolster them with a scattering of Laketown Guards. Don't care about the windlance. If it was a generic artillery piece then I'd get one or two, but since it seems Bard exclusive I'll give it a miss.

I don't mind the laketowners. They are a bit...stylised, though. I like the Russian look to them. I don't much mind the hodge podge of equipment, though as noted upthread, how that might work might be a tad questionable. (In real early medieval Europe, most soldiers wouldn't have looked all that uniform, and you might get your first mail shirt after your dad pulled it off the corpse of some bloke he'd skewered. The really fancy sorts would have one made)

Might get some of these militia eventually.

Be prepared to say this a lot more before the year is out.

Smaug is a wonderful mini, prohibitively pricey for me but a really great sculpt. It'll be interesting seeimg him in a WiP thread here...

I like the Laketown Militia, I wasn’t sure about them at first but they’ve defineately grown on me. I think the bowmen are my least favourite and I like the swordsman best.

Heard today from someone in my local store that smaug will be 150 guards of the fountain court with no upgrades. I personaly think that is insane but pretty awesome and I can't wait to see the real statlines.

I will be doing a WIP for this model when it arrives, right from unboxing to finishing in 2018 :o

Apparently there are no new releases on Sat 20th and 29th. So next Saturdays (13th) releases, whatever they are, are the last of the year. This was told me in the Solihull GW today.

So he said WD 46 would be the last issue of the year. Next new one on 3rd Jan.

Ahhh, I've been wondering how xmas would affect their schedule.

That makes a degree of sense - I imagine releasing new product on Christmas (when their business strategy is based on "BUY THIS SHINY NEW STUFF NOW") is probably not ideal as folks will be busy/poor/away, so they might save stuff for new year when shopping season kicks in like a mad thing.

But thank god for giving my wallet room to recover. :D

So does that mean the next issue won’t have any pre-releases?

I would imagine they were referring to pre-orders. No point having WD without Pre-Orders for something, right? That'd give us the last releases on the 20th, with no WD or pre-orders till new year.

Could be wrong, of course, but I can't envision WD without it advertising something. It's not like it does much else, unless it's entirely consumed by the SBG rules, which it would seem not to be.
