^Busting out the source material on me :E
Yeah I remember the knights being badasses in the books, too bad they couldn't have made the cut to film. But true Gandlaf's diorama is totally representative of the Prince.

wow, you have been busy, Gandalf is coming along well ( great sculpt)

Did you have to use much green stuff on the Goblin King?

Not much on the goblin king, thing I got a bit lucky.
I need to push the contrast more of Gandalf. However, with 55 figures to paint, I may need to drop the standard a bit to save on time.

Looks good. I want to redo my eftg set as I used it initially to get back into painting, now they're among my worst standard. I'll watch this thread closely

I struggle with creating contrast with gray as well. Washing black into the recesses and using a fine-highlight of nearly-white grey helped for me when I painted this figure.

I will be using purple and blue to push my contrast, a touch of green as well.

Interesting, i work for an industrial paint company, greys are the hardest to match as they contain so many different colours.

Trust me, it will be fine, I'm sure. I will update some photos of my progression.

You did a fantastic job on the diorama - very well done! A lot of hard work went into that. I'll be interested to see how your shades and highlights turn out for Gandalf. I always have trouble with grey.

Gandalf is finished. I hope you can see the work on the cold and warm colours to help the contrast. I have had to cut the time I spent on him as I have that many to do for this diorama

Smooth painting! His face looks very nice, and I like the red tones of his coat.

The red is gorgeous yes, and the face is excellent too. Very realistic look to it.

Thanks for the feedback, actually, I realise this was about 4 hours painting at most, probably nearer 3.

I've just received my order for Scale 75 Unnatural Skin paint set, love these paints, simply adore them. I will be putting a full review of them on my blog.
ImageSo I have gone about making a test piece for my EFGT set which I did in about 2 hours. Thoughts and feedback please.ImageImage
Not the best photos but I think they give the idea. The highlights are brighter than the picture suggest and everything looks a little blurred.
