Although I am not sure to jump for joy considering the piles of GW Hate that has plagued every forum, including this one, about what they make and the prices. I do like the idea of continued releases even if far and few between (like it is right now in fact).
I would not be surprised if the big announcement is coming in 1 week and so those that usually leak stuff now know it. Cause in one week is the EE Blue Ray release (17th). So if GW was going to make more Hobbit stuff or LOTR stuff they might want to jump on the curtails of the hype of that release and announce it then.
And of course next week is when I would expect any late releases for the Hobbit, it being right when they normally would have a new release when films were coming out and lines up with the extended.

Of course if they call it quits, I am more than ok with that too. Plenty of models from other companies I really want.

I hear you. The mass LOTR grab in which I have been participating has slowed the growth of my dark sword collection. Additionally my Reaper minis are collecting all kinds of dust.

I think it's good news.

Even if new releases are slow and support is moderate under the new arm, it is still better than the license is over, the game is dead talk we have been hearing for sometime.

Some commitment to the game is far better than none at all.

So this is totally legit and has made my day! Surely there are people here that would be keen on taking some of these jobs? The dream is real. Middle Earth products for at least the next few years. Can we speculate on what the new miniatures will be?

Dain on Boar (already got a good alternative)
Iron Hills Dwarfs ft
Iron Hills Dwarfs mtd on rams
Iron Hills Chariots
Iron Hills Ballista
Thranduil on Elk

New Ringwraiths from Dol Guldur
Armoured Azog
New Orcs/ Berserker types from Gundabad
New Trolls (don't want pegleg, he's cool but without the stupid legs!)
Troll Catapults
Bats
Ogres from Extended Edition

That'll do for now :P I know this may all be too early but still, I'm allowed my moment of excitement.

This is fantastic, also it looks like maybe they are rebranding from the hobbit which is a goodd move IMO

I've done my share of GW-bashing in the past, but I have nothing but praise for this. A genuine step in the right direction, not just for SBG, but for the company as a whole. Even if it never achieves it's true potential, it demonstrates a willingness to improve the right things, and learn from criticism. Bravo!

Now finish the Hobbit releases, ya gits!

I figure we'll get some of the BoFA EE stuff pretty soon. Some models have supposedly already been done and it would make sense for them to release at least a few models to show that they are serious about this. The Middle-earth rebrand might take place next year with a new rulebook, but I would expect at least something soon.

Great news and I am looking forward to see what appears. Those jobs would certainly point toward new rules and figures.

Feeling inspired and I am going to work on my backlog in preparation for new stuff.

Let's just hope it's people thinking along the lines of everyone on here that gets the jobs!

But this is fantastic news.

I wonder if this means that Warner Brothers and the Tolkien Estate have settled their differences and if we will see more merchandise elsewhere also.

In any case if we get more Middle Earth figures, just take my money now.

Somewhat unenthusiastic about an announcement with no details.

GW have let me down too frequently in the last 5+ years to get excited until they've actually produced something, of reasonable quality, at reasonable cost. Only then will I acknowledge it as a good move on their part.

Mix of resin and plastic kits for all releases, so LotR might not get any plastics, but at least no more finecast, it'll be Forgeworld resin.

You do realise that there is no one single "Forgeworld Resin" and "Finecast" is simply a brand name used by the Citadel company, not a resin type?

From FW:

"What you describe as 'Finecast resin' is simply a different mix, one that we've used for some time for smaller and more detailed models where appropriate...

The centrifugal casting process used to produce the Citadel Finecast range is again something that Forge World began looking at some time ago; you rightly point out that the traditional drop-casting method is extremely time- and labour-intensive, the spin-casting method is just as involved but the quality checking is rather more critical."

I would expect continued releases of LotR in the exact same quality material for the most part, albeit with much better quality control.

Well, I think this is excellent news. I still have tons of lotr minis to buy, so I'll take any extra time I can get. I don't care so much for the Hobbit range though, but hopefully some of the new releases are better.

I would just be happy if some of the OOP metal models were re-released in finecast. Dol Amroth knights on foot and Forlong the Fat and Angbor the Bold and the Citadel Guards are at the top of my list.

Really pleased to read all about this, if they are basically starting from scratch with new staff i guess it will be 6 to 12 months before we see any new releases. Remember when Azog was first released, took 6 months to be "rushed" through.

I read on FB that a stack of Dwarfs were sculpted by the Perry Bros, maybe we will see them released first?

Lets Hope :-)

I think the first thing they need to do is get the source books back in print one way or the other. It's going to be hard to get new players involved if they can't get hold of the rules for the armies they want to play.
