Sometimes you just want to finish a few more miniatures from your backlog, but suddenly you end up with having built new terrain pieces!
Oh well, it could be worse I guess... (and as you can see in the top left corner, I had the chance to paint a few more heroes too after all)

Thank you Feanor!

In other news I got quite a few miniatures off my painting table. Here is the first batch:

Grimbolds Helmingas:

And the 'Ambush at Amon Hen' set which I could finally complete. (Just a few Uruk scouts left to paint):

Fantastic job on the flag! My Ambush at Amon Hen figures are languishing in the metal mountain, might be time to pull them out.

Thanks to both of you!

The moss is a blend whicgh I made of different fine flocks. I use Fine Turf by Woodland scenics in the colours of "Burnt Grass" and "Yellow Grass" and mixed into that light brown and light green flock from Noch.

Excellent work as usual, Rognarr! I'm envious you have the Ambush at Amon Hen set as it is one I'd love to own. The painting on those minis and Treebeard look great. I love your style of basing and Treebeard really looks like he is Fangorn Forest. The combination of flock and leaves is really effective :yay: You've inspired me to give flock a try on my bases in the near future :)

Thanks Kuribo, glad that I can pass on some inspiration. This forum gave me lots of it in the past years. ^_^

Also: Happy New Year guys!
Here ar my last finished models for the old year: A bunch of Uruk berserkers, a few maraudeurs (some converted, more or less) and a selfbuilt Mauhúr (since I don't like the official model I converted one):

These look great, Rognarr! I really like the freehand on the banner. It looks realistic and is well-painted :yay:

Uff.. it''s been a while since my last post :O
But fear not, I have not been lazy! Well, I was lazy considering taking photos, but I painted quite a few calssic models at least.
That "Breaking of the Fellowship"_Aragorn ist probably my favourite model of him. I hope I could do him some justice.

I'd say it is well worth adding those eyebrows in if you have the patience for it. This is a really impressive painting haul and everything looks great. I really like the dwarf lords. Those two sculpts have a lot of character in them :)

Splendid work. You have really captured the glamor in the dwarves. The urukhai look very convincing for the real thing.

Consider watering down paints a little bit more. It's better to lay down more layers than one thick.
Aragorn is my favourite from presented here, although minis from ambush at amon hen and grimbold helmingas seems to be painted one or two levels above your recent works.
Keep it up!

@Kuribo I finally could be bothered in adding them and as always thanks for the compliments! same for @Drumstick

@Paull7 thanks for your honest words! That's helpful criticism. Actually I always water down my paints. On a wet palette even, but I'm still struggling with smooth colour transitions somehow. I will try and go forth (or back? ^^ ) to the Amon Hen level then :)

Anyway here are some overdue new photos of miniatures (does the Balrog even count as MINIature? :D ) I painted within the last weeks. More will follow soon :)

Oh oh, that Balrog's got some fire and no mistake! Very nice. You sure do know how to account for lighting. I also like the little leaves you did on the bases of Boromir and Aragorn. A nice touch.
