Loving Smaug's voice, and the (very brief) clip we get of Beorn makes him look pretty badass! And the elves fully armoured look very cool indeed.

Just a quick question guys, between 0.39 and 0.40 Tauriel clearly kills an Orc. Looking at him, I think he looks quite like Fimbul. Anybody agree?

He´s a bit similar but i´m pretty sure it´s not Fimbul :meh:

Why is no one on here complaining about the lovelife of Tauriel/Legolas which seems to be happening here?

Personally I thought that the trailer looks bursting with action and stands out against the first films trailer which looks comparatively tame. Yes P.J. has definitely put a bit of soppy emotional nonsense involving a stong female character (which I am well up for! The strong female character that us.) and legolas the pretty boy in there for the Girls, but I was so overwhelmed with Elves, Orc and Monsters that it appeared to be a minute distraction.

I'm not complaining because in the end it will amount to nothing lol so Legolas having some reason for never again pursuing a romance makes little difference to me

With how GW prices are going probably around $150 USD and $1,000,000 for those poor souls in Australia

I have a stuffed crocodile that I may well end up spray painting red!
I tend to get him out for parties and use him to scare my God Sons.
His name is Mr. Snappy!

Significantly better than the previous trailer, definitely got more hyped from this.

But I can't shake off the bother that so much of The Hobbit series is CGI, green-screened, etc. It's off-putting.

Impression I have though is that PJ definitely has a chance to justify a trilogy with this film.

Haha don't worry about us, a kidney or two should do.

Although I have to admit as much as a dislike CGI battle scenes it really has opened up the opportunities in the scenery department. Those settings look amazing. As for those armoured (Mirkwood?) elves I really hope they release them in boxes as I noticed GW has been moving away from blisters with the Hobbit troops and reserving them mainly for heroes. The Legolas/Tauriel romance doesn't really bother me because I don't really think they are going to delve into that too much. Benedict Cumberbatch has done an AMAZING job in that snippet of Smaug's voice and I can't wait to see his depiction of the Necromancer. Also looks like we're going to have a Helms Deep style battle in Dol Guldor between Orcs and Elves.

Overall, VERY Excited :D :D :D :D :D

The only thing I'm worrying about is how Legolas is going to turn into "Not liking dwarves mode" again. Since he fights together with Thorin and co. and is probably going to be friends with them. While in The Lord of The Rings he doesn't really like dwarves...

I suspect that the White Council will be surprised at the readiness of Sauron's forces at Dol Guldur and will initially be caught on the backfoot as the ant hill of orcs erupts!

Very interesting trailer, even my dad said this Hobbit film looks like it'll be better than the other one.

The armoured Orcs & Elves look nice, as do the Spidey Wideys.

I wish I was a really awesome sketcher so I could secure my own imagination in pictures...

One of the things I most liked about LoTR was it was so real (or as real as it gets in a fantasy world. Huge, complex, real and believable. That is partially why I very much dislike unrealism (such as double weapons (a dagger perhaps, just for the quick stab while caught unawares but not any large weapons)).
From the looks of this trailer (good though I think the trailer is) it looks like alot of things I find unbelievable and unreal (such as the double bowed ballistae and plenty of flying-while-firing elves) have made it into this film. This is my major worry when it comes to these films and I hope it won't be so obvious as to spoil it.

Just my thoughts...
