Not crazy about Thranduil but everything else looks wonderful to me. I wish I wouldn't have bought Beorn already this one looks much better! The fur on the bear still looks odd, but overall it's a nice model.

The Gundabads look ace, I would like a whole army but can't afford it.

Really glad I didn't buy Beorn. New Thranduil is very meh (WAY too warhammery) but everything else looks good. I'll probably get a few Gundabads, but not as many as I want. Way too expensive. Beorn, on the other hand, is definitely getting bought.

I really dont like thranduil pose that much :/
I mean... there could be countless poses more worthy of a king, not a karate git out of nowhere, for example girion is worth of a nice pose

Wow, what the hell is with that Thranduil?! It looks ridiculous, like "Hot Yoga Elvenking" or something of the like! Yeesh! Everything else looks really nice though.

I agree what on earth happened to Thranduil, The Only Awesome Elf (TM). He looks less awesome in that awful pose.

The Gundabad Orc Captain has one hell of a fancy helmet for an Orc, I'll have to get one. Don't think I can get 10 swordsman and 14 pikemen though. have to get a few. Oh Gundabad Orcs, oh Gundabad Orcs how shiny is your armour? - very shiny in fact but nevertheless awesome.

Hundreds of people must be gutted about buying that Beorn, judging by the price, the bear costs £7 only! lol

well Im trying to imagine a diferent sculpt conversion that could be done to that model to look a bit better....
I really dont like that arm with the sword angle, looks very odd for the pose, also that torso, maybe if the sword could make 90º to the horizontal or an angle closer to it... then maybe...

Thranduil does indeed look terrible in my opinion, very static and unnatural in what could have been a dynamic pose.
Gundabads I've never really liked, mostly due to the helmets. Other than that, they're alright, but nothing special.
Girion doesn't have the kind of pose you want him to enter combat in, but otherwise it's one of the first Hobbit models I actually like the look of.
As for Beorn...
Dr Grant wrote:
Well I never, if that really is £23 for the Finecast Bear and Beorn then I'm actually gonna go out and say that's almost reasonably priced!
Only if you haven't bought the first Beorn model that is. Otherwise, it costs £38, which leaves you with another pretty similar Beorn (man) model that isn't much use at all. Well, maybe at some point we'll get an alternative, seperately available bear pose as well...

I'm on the Thranduil looks awful band - wagon. That's up there with the captains of Arnor and Lake Town for worst model in the range.
Beorn looks good, I don't like his man pose simply from a battle - field perspective. So I may have to purchase the first one as well.
Those Gundabads did not disappoint at all! I'm excited to pick some up.

And finally, while I like Girion his pose looks a little comical to me I just see him saying "My Eyes!" (Thermo reference) "Is that a dragon approaching? Looks like we'll have to cancel our tea" (seemed the appropriate beverage choice with all the British people on this site lol

Hmm some nice releases there with one notable exception.

Beorn & Bear - very nice dual pack. Definitely one for the future...
Gundabads - nice minis with quite a nice captain but I won't be getting them as they hold little to no use for me (not a gamer).
Thranduil - GW have obviously been given the EE and have based the new Thranduil on the scene in which he conducts his Mirkwood Yoga class :P But seriously I don't get that pose and the proportions are totally wrong for the SBG range. Oh well - one I will definitely not be getting.

Finally Girion - a super model IMO. These days I'm always looking at minis thinking "could that make a nice display piece?" And that Girion is just brilliant. I will be picking that one up this month for sure. Just need to arrange a trip to my local GW :)

I can only Beorn and the Gundabad captain. Why can't I see Thranduil or the warriors/girion?

I've been trying all day, and keep re checking the link. What am I doing wrong???

There're 6 links when it looks like there's only 2. I think you're clicking on the far left of each line, that will give you Beorn and the captain. If you look closely there are actually 3 separate links on each line!

Hope that helps! :-)

Thanks Dr Grant. I feel like a complete and utter moron for missing that though now.

What a numpty!

Thranduil is terrible. How disappointing.

Yeaah sorry for the bad formatting :\ I was going to just post the links here but then I figured it might be easier on the forums to just post the collection on reddit (the photos are from another redditor). And on reddit you can get an enhancement suite for imgur links, so on my screen it looked a little bit more sensible XD Sorry

@Tezzy - No need to apologise, any pics are are better than no pics at all so massive thanks for posting them! :yay:

@John - I wouldn't worry, I didn't see it first either, I kept getting confused that clicking on the same link (obviously in different places) was getting me different pics each time! Consider me a numpty too! :-D

Don't worry I was having the same problem, even weirder when one of the pictures magically changed... :o

Anyways, if Beorn + Bear are £23, I guess thats well worth getting.
Gundabads are nice but not something I'm interested in. I agreee the captain has a horrible case of mickey mouse ears.
Girion is magnificent, half tempted to get him and some Warriors of Dale. :)
And Thranduil...deary me Thranduil. No seriously, we could have had him in armour? No. On an elk? No. Some stupid I don't even know what pose in the same equipment the other model has? Yeh why the hell not... :(

I wont be buying any, for me its a bit to much money for few mini's, although I like the gundabad's. But I think my spare uruk-hai and orcs can if well converted make some nice gundabad orcs : )

I'll sit here with my smugface :) to all those people who said Thranduil would be on elk :P

Slighty annoyed by the Beorn twin pack but I was expecting to pay £20+ for just the bear so basically getting a free model.
Girion will go nicely with my dale warriors so I'll get him. I'll probably also get a warband or two of gundabads to give my hunter orcs a much needed Defence boost.
Will leave the captain and ninja thranduil though.

I am putting my money on a December 2014/January 2015 Release of Thranduil in Heavy armour mounted on his Elk of DOOM with him also on foot in Heavy Armour.
This would be a pack I would buy in a heartbeat! I don't think they are allowed to make what hasn't been showed in the movies and Thranduil in Heavy Armour is yet to be seen except in the production blogs. So I am guessing they saved the Elk version for when he is Heavy Armoured which makes sense and means a 3rd movie release for the model. I also wouldn't be surprised if a new profile came out such as "Thranduil, Dragon Scarred" It may be a more combat heavy profile with something along the lines of the Twins special rule to do with 2 swords (either +1 wound or +1 Attack or Shielding).
I am interested in what other people think because I believe this model would sell like mad, and even Fantasy people may buy it for some proxy model?
