Anyone have any news when the model for Azog will finally be released?
and for that matter when the rules for yazneg will appear?
i know there was a mixup with jackson over him changing the look of azog, but seriously want to field azog as azog, not as yazneg!!

nope no news. If you read the FAQ on the GW website, it says the rules for yazneg will be released in an 'upcoming publication'. But as to when that is, no-one knows. Personally I am hoping for a june/ july release but

P.J. definitely made the right decision in down grading the original Azog design to a warg rider captain (now Yazneg). He makes Shagrat Lurtz and look like wimps! But yes, hurry up G.W. with the miniature release and rules for Yazneg. Hopefully Yazneg will have a 3rd might point , access to a lance (which would make him worth the £25 I paid for him) and have some desperate special rule based upon success or failure when attacking.

Was anyone else disappointed when they opened this topic after hoping that the title suggested leaked images of forth coming miniatures?

Thanks guys!! Sorry to mislead u!! But if I find any images, will put them on here. For the mean time here's a pic of smaug.

I suspect that this image is 99.9% not Smaug! Their does seem to be an absence of gems across his chest etc which is how he is described. I suspect that the real version is too well protected for any leaks to be out. Does anyone recognise where this image is from?

Well done Galanur, I hate it when people put time wasting misinformation on the site! Allmihtycuff, you would do well to check your source before posting fake information!

Apologies, I found it on The Lord of the rings wiki page for smaug so kind of assumed it was real! Wasn't meant to be time wasting info. If pj does make him with gems across the chest it could make an interesting model providing gw stick to the look of the film. Any ideas on what the rules could be like for him? Like a dragon, or like a cave drake? Or more of a mix??

Smaug would appear from the books to benefit from all four dragon upgrades (Breathe Fire, Fly, Tough Hide and Wyrm Tongue) but would appear to be on a larger scale than the existing models so I would expect a couple more wounds, and possibly another special rule relating to any unusual properties or behaviour that he exhibits during the movie.

Well spotted, I have included the quote below:

"Q: Is there a profile for Yazneg? (p185)

A: Not at present, though we will rectify this in an
upcoming publication. For now, treat him as a Hunter
Orc Captain from the Azogʼs Hunters army list with the
option to have a lance....."

I have him half painted and am glad that we can use the lance!

I asked member of GW staff yesterday about the lack of an Azog miniature. He claimed this is because New Line dictate what can and cant be released from each film, and they have not given permission for Azog to be released.

It is a really peculiar omission. The only viable explanation is that Yazneg was the original model for the pale orc, until P.J. rejected him as being too wimpy, and making adjustments relatively late.

But I thought that applied to all goblins? :P
The pale orc is a menacing presence but a wee bit of a grandstander really. I could just picture him trying the menacing routine in front of a few elves; he'd end up looking like a pincushion with all the arrows they would hit him with.

P.J. rejected the Yazneg design, which was the original working design for Azog, but decided quite late into the project that he was too wimpy, and used a larger more aggressive looking design which made it as the Azog of the movie.

Yes I agree that going round half naked would probably attract a lot of arrows!

It's nothing to do with Azog being a poseur. It's the fact that he spends a bit too much time glowering at people and making threatening remarks when it would be more appropriate for him to get stuck in and fight them. Yes, he is huge and strong, but in the first film he seems to have lost some of his mojo along with his left forearm. But the trailer for the DOS may indicate that the bad boy from Gundabad may be getting more adventurous. Here's hoping that is the case.

Is this his theory or is this true?

GW are licensees for Middle-earth miniatures/games and they have no option other than to take orders from the IP owner, or else they end up in court against a huge company for breach of contract.

Does anyone know if there is a Legolas or "toy" Azog model out?
If there is then it must be able to be made.

There was one released although it might have been a special edition. Sideshow have done a replica. A blackout on reproduction makes no sense. They are probably still playing catch up after the 3 film split. Everything significant from lotr eventually got made. Usually a sweetener at the end of the summer, Sauron, fell beast iirc. Mind you their release schedule is different from 10 years ago
