Apparently GWs profits are up 33% with a drop in turnover, they have committed to changing all store names to Warhammer, shares have risen. |

Well this is a tough topic to post. We're not supposed to say anything negative right? But alas.......then I have nothing nice to say at all. I hope someone else has the courage to make new minis that I will feed my money into that GW will miss out on. |

I agree, I really hope a good company starts to produce lotr mini's that are similar to that of GW's lotr range. With the long project i'm embarking upon, hopefully someone will make some good elven models or something. |

A salary freeze for employees yet paying out more in dividends than they made that year. That's.. interesting. |

more in dividends? That is why people invest. I am not going to defend GW but if they can't turn a profit they won't have any investors. They don't have anything to sell me now. So I don't care. |

Sure, but dividends are only paid out A) using purely surplus money, i.e. which is not required for innovation and expansion - instead, they blew their entire yearly profits on it; and B) when the company is doing very well. In contrast, freezing wages is a sure sign that a company is in some considerable trouble. If both occur, they either expect serious issues but don't want the investors to notice/care, or want to milk the cow before it drops dead. Shafting your employees while taking a lousy million for yourself (previous CEO, currently financial something I believe, is a major shareholder).. well, that probably won't be appreciated. |

Yes, more of the same as what we have seen the past several years. Lower sales overall, although an increase in direct and store sales. Lower taxes and cost cutting(closing stores, more one man stores other cost cuts) allowed them to generate a profit as did increasing prices. They made a large investment in the studio, probably new hardware and design software. Overall cash on hand is still shrinking every year. But they also pay out dividends, which makes investors happy. Overall GW is still shrinking year over year, which may be good if their long term plan is to get rid of any and all corporate "fat" and then use that efficiency to generate steady long term growth and steady profit. Who knows, but they do noIt mention LoTR in the statement. |
