What a massive project to take on !

My mind is boggled by all that casting of blocks

But as they say, put the time and effort into something, and it will turn out for the best !

Loved every single part of the article, its articles such as this that One Ring loves, perfect 'Step-By-Step' guides that allows any member to attempt it for themselves.

Fantastic outcome...it looks absolutely amazing !!!
:yay:

I would like to add my congratulations to Onyx for an article well done.

I have often looked at the Hirst Arts website with envy, knowing that a talented individual could produce amazing stuff, as you have demonstrated.

I thought that the removable section over the culvert was an especially nice touch.

Kudos, once again!

This is the most amazing piece of terrain I have seen for a while. I have myself built a small terrain piece from Hirst Arts blocks, but I just cannot imagine how much work casting all those Helm's Deep blocks must have been. Amazing effort, really.

Marvellous! I envy you quite a bit as you have created a sizeable and vernacular rendition of Helm's Deep. You might need about 400 uruks.... or more depending on how many defenders you can squeeze in there.

What a great article!

Must be really great to have a game in such a nice and evocative board.

This is one of my favourite terrain pieces of all time. If I were asked to choose a top 10 list of terrain pieces, this would be 4 of them!

Thanks Steve for submitting the article here.

Great Stuff.

I really like these kind of articles. They are extremely helpful, even if you only use bits and pieces of them.

10/10 from me!

wow :yay:

My mind is boogled at how many hours of work that must of taken. But as the saying goes 'what you put in is what you get out of it. And this is one great terrain piece.

Keep up the good work (You never know next you might be thinking about Minas Tirith(By the way if you hadn't guessed i was joking about that))

Wow! Lovely work.
This is a piece that I'd love to have a go but doubt that I ever will. It's a pleasure to see what you've done and how you've gone about it. Marvellous!
Well done! :yay:

Terrific article!!! I have a question, I'm not sure if you mentioned it but-how big are each of the boards (the fortress, deeping wall, causeway, etc)

10/10 :D

Undoubtedly the best LotR SBG terrain piece I have ever seen. It is just unparralleled in its quality. It literally looks perfect, and like it has just stepped out of the movie and novels.

The only technicality I'd have to pick up however is the Deeping Wall...it is not curved as per Tolkien and Weta's conception, so archers upon the wall at one point can shoot at a threat at any other point infront of the wall besieging the fortress.

Overall,....terrific though.

I do agree with the speakers above: it is a great piece of scenery that is worthy of getting sacked by Saruman’s Uruk-hai. I’d like to add a suggestion. You should buy another plate of MDF (1m x 2m, 4mm or 6mm) and a few spray cans (black, grey and also white for foggy effects!). Paint yourself a decor (with spray cans, it’s a piece of cake, really). You can even use polyurethane foam to ‘paint’ a mountainous background (thin layer, scratch away the surface to make rock walls – Weta used tinfoil, myself black painted news papers). Next, borrow an army and start to make your own movie pics. With all these details, your ‘miniature’ is just perfect to make panoramic shots as well as close-ups. Don’t forget the fireworks!
