I think it's a great idea for beginners! When I joined O-R I had no idea what coins were for ( donated 4, now I'm coinless ) , having avatars, imageshack etc. were for. your guide will sure be usefull for new members, a very very good explination of everything a new member would need. great work Curunir! I am always pondering about that when help is needed a site is not explanable from itself which is not good ... but on the other hand this site provides to many nice features that cannot be clear by just a menuitem, so some help/hints are very useful and create ah-I-havn't-known-this-until-few-seconds-ago-effects (even for 'older' users) very well done, Curunír. (now if this could be available and found easily I think the Beginners forum should also contain the additional words: (New to the game or the hobby) or this website? (still, since I am a member I have been pondering about how to move the chatbox a bit more, as this is a nice feature used by many, even if only to just look who's on, and it requires scrolling a lot... (anyway I post that sketch on that other thread website news/feedback for discussion) |

It is evident that a significant amount of time and thought went into this, and the result is a magnificent guide to this fantastic site. Great job, Curunír! |

i have to say "thank you" too. it was very useful for me to get started on OR. maybe it needs a little bit more improvement (please dont beat me for that), because my first posts have been off topic. for a non english lingualist it is a bit hard to understand everything in your welcome article. just make a very short overview of all the things that OR provides. f.e. articles: invented something new post it here want to show a painting guide.. my gallery: show your work my profile: your account settings ........... explain the complexity of OR in short, but understandable words. this extra information might be very useful for noobs, and also for semi-noobs like me! |

Thank you everyone for the feedback and comments. I really enjoyed making this guide, but I really had no clue what I was doing when I started it and learned a lot in the process. Thank you Beatrice for your comments; I agree the site has lots of great features that are too good to miss. daoage wrote: for a non english lingualist it is a bit hard to understand everything in your welcome article. just make a very short overview of all the things that OR provides.
Believe me it was really tough to keep it simple, and now that I read back through the material (just over a month old) I see several things that I could change and make clearer. Maybe in Version 1.1 I have been toying with the idea of doing a "quick guide" as a thread, with the article being the "full version". We'll see. Thank you again for the comments, and I'm always looking for feedback. Hejdå |
