I am making some mud bases these days (Helm's Deep themed Uruk army) which are going pretty well.

After completing the painting I saw around that if you use some kind of gloss it becomes like "slime/sludge/wet ground". I didn't exprext this correctly but I hope you understand.

I suppose it will be the gloss varnish but in another vid I saw he used a product named "gloss paint". So, what do you suggest me to use?

I have seen one where you use realistic water to mix with dry mud to make the wet look. You can then add tiny pools to add to the realism.
In principle I see no reason why you can't use a regular gloss coat for this.
Try some on a test base.

There is a painting job in the BGIME can't remember what one, they cut the feet off Minas Tirith soldiers and stuck them to their base and painted the base slimy water to make it look like the men where ankle deep in sewer sludge.

This could work for a few to make them look "stuck in the mud" as you would?

After using gloss, can the model be painted on this? Beacause when I will drybrush in the feet, I would not like the moving brush to paint the base too. So it gonna help so much if it is not painted after the varnish.

Btw the product to keep areas unpainted is the liquid mask but I d like to know if the varnish reacts like that too.

It is in issue 33 pg:14 although I realize after finding it it is just a small paragraph not a detailed description at all.
