HI there, weird title I know, but I have a big problem right now. I'm originally from a small rural village in central Europe, but recently moved to Paris to study at the sorbonne. Now I'm stuck in a wonderful flat in the heart of Paris, but I can't find a right spot to prime my figs. I don't want to do that in the flat because of possible stains and splatters, but also because of the very strong smell of GW Chaos Black Spray. However the public areas such as sidewalks and parks are way to crowded, especially now in spring where thousands of tourist are heading to Paris. So, among all of you guys are there some who are experiencing the same problem and could give any andvice on where to prime without causing damage and trouble in a big city? Thanks! |

You don't have a balcony/porch/some outside space that you could prime in? Other wise, yeah, open a window, put them in a side ways box (to reduce splatter) and have-at-'em. (Or undercoat by hand...) |

I do both, spray and brush on. If you go the brush on route Vallejo makes some nice polyurethane brush on primers that come in a variety of colors. I primarily use the light grey. As far as spray on goes I typically will use army painter, p3 or an auto primer, primarily the first two though. As for where, if you can get to a balcony use that, otherwise you could invest in a good airbrush and use the box and open window trick. That would really help reduce the fumes. In the past I have sprayed out a window. Works fine you just have to remeber to keep the mini moving since you will not be moving the spray can much. |

I would say either a carpark, roof, or a box in the bathroom where the smell can be contained. |

Find a room that isn't often used, use a box with one side cut out to catch the spray, lay down some newspaper to protect the surface you're using (like a table) and when you're done, leave a window open and quarantine the room for a couple of hours. Doing it indoors is not ideal but I've done it myself at Uni, when I was living on the 5th floor of a tower block of flats. I just made sure my room was well ventilated and I left the room for a few hours. |

I've been using the garbage room in my apartment building to spray my basecoats. Just be sure to make a lot of noise if you hear the door open, otherwise you'll scare the Devlan Mud out of your neighbours when they come in. |
