I've been lobbying for this forum to be set up as I think there needs to be a place where the art of painting is discussed and members can find tips and techniques to improve this part of the hobby. I thought it might be useful to have a forum devoted to discussions about ranges of paints, issues with paint systems, painting techniques, off-site links to useful painting resources etc. i am hoping that it might also host some small workshop posts from our more experienced members showing the differences between techniques, how to do more advanced techniques and answer any specific questions about tools and techniques related to painting. These wouldn't be full articles, more a collection of steps to follow to achieve a particular look. This forum is meant to be quite distinct from miniature questions and problems, that's what the Help with Miniature Figures forum is for, but would take some of the posts that now go into that forum and possibly some from the News forum. I hope to migrate some older painting related posts to this forum at some point. I think the idea of collecting these type of posts together in a forum on it's own will help members both new and old develop and keep them up to date with new products and ways to do things. |

I think it's a superb idea. I especially like the notion of 'pro-painting workshops' thing T'will certainly be a great help to painters wanting to improve. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out. |

A great idea Azog. Ths thread will help many hit higher levels. This site is good to get to a fairly good standard but you have to look further to really develop to the high levels. That's what this should provide us and I for one can't wait. |

Excellent idea indeed! I hope this will work out as you hoped. I might be nice to have a platform for people to share tips in a more interactive way than it was (is?) with articles. |

Thanks for the positive response I've tried to move some of the painting related posts from some of the other forums so they are all in one place. I'm sure we won't be able to rival some of the excellent content on the Internet about painting but hopefully it might help out our members over time. I will set up some useful links posts at some point too. |

Yeah liking this new forum, it's good that it has its own section like terrain modelling has its own. Does sculpting and conversions have one? If not there should probably be one made for it as well. |

I think the next step could be a resource page of paint schemes. I see lots of people asking for schemes for one thing or another, but if we had somewhere that they had easy access too then that could solve the problem. There would be the issue of keeping this registered, so I appreciate this may be more than manageable. Of course there would be no photos. Simply the written word to give people the idea on the colours they would need. |
