I need help painting these guys. Help? List of paints would be extremely useful, and tutorials would be wonderful. That will anchor me for now as I am going to do my own take on Damrod, Mordor orcs and Black Guard, Rohirrim warriors, Royal Guard, and Theodred, Mahur, and Wildmen. Uruk scouts I will need help with, but thats a later one. |

For Boromir and Faramir it depends on the sculpts. If it is the "unarmored" versions then I'd go with (these are citidel/gw paints) all of these are for after the model has been primed. Here's my tips for Boromir Boromir: Flesh- Doombull brown (base) Ratskin Flesh (highlight) Reikland Flesh-shade (wash) Kislev Flesh-(final highlight) Hair- Skrag Brown (base) Agrax Earthshade (wash) Armor- Leadbelcher (base) Agrax Earth shade (wash) Iron Breaker (highlight) Runefang Steel (final highlight) Cloth Pick a good color to contrast your armor and highlight and shade it accordingly |

For the Warriors of Minas Tirith, I use a quick method that can be used for Boromir Captain of the White Tower and Faramir in heavy armour as well. *Sorry for the mix of old paints and new. I'm just saying what I use.* Armour Basecoat: Runfang Steel - Start off with the brightest silver you have (trust me on this) make sure you have a nice and even coat, through several applications if necessary Shade: Nuln Oil Layer: Runefang Steel - re-apply over all the armour plates, leaving the wash in the recesses. This will give the sections of armour definition. Second Shade: Nuln Oil - This will help darken the armour a little Highlight: Runefang Steel - this is the final highlight. Apply to the very highest point in the armour and on the tree of Gondor in the center of the breastplate. Cloth Basecoat: Chaos Black and Codex Grey 50/50 mix Shade: Nuln Oil - Apply two washes, the second one after the first is completely dry Edge Highlight: Fortress Grey Skin Basecoat: Mix of Ratskin Flesh and Elf Flesh 50/50 (If you don't have those colours, mix your mid-tone skin colour and highest skin colour) + a little Fortress Grey Wash 1: Watered down Dark Flesh over the entire skin area Wash 2: An extremely thin mix of Rhinox Hide and Chaos Black 50/50. Like 6 parts water to 1 part paint. Apply only to the darkest recesses of the face (eyes and mouth) and between fingers. Highlight with basecoat mix and if you want to go one step further, Elf flesh on the highest points Belts + Straps Basecoat: Rhinox Hide Shade: Nuln Oil. (You can do this step when you're shading the armour) Highlight: Vermin Brown Hair Basecoat: Rhinox Hide Shade: Agrax Earthshade Highlight: Bestial Brown **For Boromir's Hair, since it's a lighter brown than Faramir, you can use a variation on this recipe** Hair Basecoat: Bestial Brown + Fortress Grey 70/30 mix Shade: Agrax Earthshade Highlight 1: Original mix re-applied Highlight 2: Add small amount of Bleached Bone Hope this helps! |
