Hey all,

So I decided to paint some of my high elves in a Lindon/Grey Havens theme, and got a bit stuck. I've painted the armour Gold, the spear/wood parts yellow-ish and will paint the garment thing turquoise.

I want to paint the cloak sea green, but don't have a clue how. So, does anyone have any pictures/tips on how to paint the colour.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks DMS,

I couldn't see the green very well, but I believe it to be the colour I'm looking for. Personally I was thinking to go for a bit of a darker tone, but I believe this to be many times better!

Ok i'll write up the colours i used for these guys.

1. Mix 75% catachan green (old paint names sorry) with 25% codex grey and paint entire cloak.

2.Wash cloak with mix of 50% brown wash and 50% water.

3.add a tiny drop of bleached bone to catachan green and add a drop of water to the mix and highlight the cloak.

4.Add another tiny amount of bleached bone to the previous mix and highlight just the most raised areas of the cloak, the hood etc.

5. Add around 5 drops of water to one drop brown wash (devlan mud it used to be called) I now use army painter strong tone. and wash cloak.

6. Drybrush bestial brown onto bottom of cloak (areas where it would hit the ground)

7. Add 5 drops water to one drop scorched brown paint and take a very old brush (old drybrushes thats bristles stick out all over are perfect) dip the brush into the mix and then dab it on your hand until the paint comes off in little spots and then stipple it onto the cloak in random areas around the bottom of the cloak.. makes for great mud splats.

Hope this helps you and if you need any further help just ask.

That's a great scheme for a nice elven green Dead Marsh Spectre, I've even stole it for my Mirkwood army.

But for a 'deep' sea green, start with a basecoat of Orkhide Shade (sorry, I don't know the current equivalent), then work up with Thunderhawk Blue, and for the final highlight mix in a tiny splodge of Administratum Grey. If it's too bright, depending on what you're looking for, then wash with a diluted Nuln Oil.
