Been using a lot of the old GW paint Shining Gold lately and am running low. Checked ebay and don't really like the idea of paying £6.00 for a single tiny pot of paint. Anyone got any ideas for a direct replacement? |

Gehenna's Gold is the new GW equivalent, it's very close so I'd recommend it |

JamesR wrote: Gehenna's Gold is the new GW equivalent, it's very close so I'd recommend it Its not close enough for me i'm afraid - even when mixed thoroughly it has a reddish undertone which i can compensate for by adding a little silver - works ok for single mini's but when i am painting multiple batches its no good as if i don't get the mix of gold and silver right my gold ends up being two different colours. |

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITADEL-GAMES ... 2c7740910c I know you would be saving just 2 pounds but its still better, i have on but not lot left in it, i prefer gehennas gold if you want it but imho i think you will just need to keep checking for small lots with it in as people abuse the fact that something has become oop they think it is literally worth gold. |

Hey Kev, is this any good or is this too old school?!?!? This has been sitting at the back of my painting draw for about 10 years now and doesn't see any use, there's at least half a pot there and it seems to be in a good state, happy to send it over to you if it'll help you complete a project or summat. |

Coat d'Arms are the old citadel paints under different names. Think you want 107 Bright Gold http://www.blackhat.co.uk/online_shop/i ... 3700887333 |

DMS, we are all in that same boat, the new paints are not a match for the old paints in most cases. Some people would not notice, but it has been a pain to rethink formula's I have been using for years to get a specific look. I am sure you are being over critical about your gold color, but why not, that is what makes your work so good is that you don't accept less than the best. Glad you sorted it out. My Gold pot is getting pretty low too, and I have yet to even crack open an elf box... yikes. |

@Sithious - yes the new paints don't match up well at all to the old do they. I think Quendil has posted the long term answer above. |

I use P3 paints these days for my metallics. I still have some old Citadel paints but they are gradually diminishing and will run out one day. I had a mild panic attack a week ago when I thought my last pot of Chestnut Ink had run out, but I'd picked up an old empty one I use for mixing by mistake. |

Heard mixed reviews on P3 - are they any good? Haha yes Chestnut ink. I still have a full pot of that but only use it once in a blue moon. I tend to use gryphonne sepia on rank and file. |

Reaper's "New Gold" is what I've already decided I'll use when my pots of shining gold run out. I prefer it to Vallejo, P3 or anyone else I've tried for that matter. http://www.reapermini.com/Paints/corecolors |
