That would be so cool man! A great idea. There is progress on this too, I just have a bunch of projects to finish before Moria, but I recently worked out how to approach the vast amount of detailed rockwork using resin with Woodland scenics moulds and rotocasting, that will get good detail and keep it lightweight :D

The WS rock moulds are nice, I've used them before. You can apply the whole thing to a section of plaster cloth wet and it will adhere around corners and other nasty spots. If you have problems getting them to set up because they aren't flat, set them in a bin of sand or kitty litter to hold them, just be sure to keep Kitty away!

Could have a scenario for Durin and co. v.s. Balrog and co. Take the mines or something, you need to control all markers, and push the enemy below ground. Then Pippin hits a bucket, calls a troll, and kills Gandalf by calling a Balrog. Good job Pippin. You had one job: Hold the hat. One job.

But yeah some Balrog stuff would definitely be the end game of the campaign I reckon. A huge epic final series of scenarios.
