So… I wonder if there is such a thing!? I am currently on a mission to collect them all, and so such a guide would be most useful. However, if such a thing does not exist, I'd be happy to compile one for the community. Does anyone know of such a thing? If not, then I have a bunch of questions, but those can wait till I'm sure I have the job on my table, as it were. |

Published as in, published by GW I assume? Over the years, they've released scenarios on the website, in White Dwarf and of course their various books. I've not seen any lists of all scenarios published in these ways, but they might be around. I do know that I have personally saved many of them on my laptop. Most of them are using the very old rules, during the LotR movies era, and might thus be a bit outdated and unbalanced when playing with the new rules. Anyway, if you are looking for a particular scenario, I might happen to have it, especially if it was released on the website. |

Not that I am aware of, it will be a couple of hours of work for anyone who has all the rule and supplement book, also the best of White Dwarf books and the De Agostini Battle Games in Middle-earth magazines to hand who is willing to do the data entry! If you are really looking to get "fully inclusive" there are scenarios released in the tournaments and can sometimes still be found online in the tournament packs. I also believe that Wargames Illustrated has also published un-official scenarios, these I suspect are worth considering! |

Interesting stuff. Thanks both for the replies. Looks like I shall be getting to work then! I'm currently in the process of acquiring various printed materials cheaply from eBay. My basic angle is that while I have a couple of pals who are happy to churn through points match battles I'm pleasantly surprised to find that my girlfriend actually really likes the game, but is very much biased towards story scenarios rather than pitched battles. I'm quite that way inclined myself, and so I thought I'd go about trying to find out exactly what scenarios are available in the various OOP books, and getting my hands on them! I'll start getting my head around the task, and Feanor, I may well take you up on that offer! |

The only thing is, that you will need a seriously extensive miniature collection to go through them all! Especially as the earlier and now the Hobbit scenarios specify exact participants, and there are some serious gaps whereby rules have been printed, but no miniature /s released for the profile (so some serious customisation work required). A sensible place to start would be with the LOTR fellowship of the ring journey book. Also we know have the problem that a lot of miniatures are now OOP! |

However, scenarios are not official tournaments so it does not matter which figures you use for proxies. I think several of the early scenarios will require a knowledge of the rules from the addition they were written for. Ammunition limits for some and first addition Courage rules for others. The new monster rules might also effect the balance in some. Building scenarios can be a hobby in it self. |

Catching Aragorn (who can call an heroic mach every turn) and Frodo in the Amon Hen scenario with Lurtz and an Uruk hero is now practically impossible. |

I would not use the word primitive. The rules might be offended I think limited vs less restrictive might be more appropriate. There were no war band rules and fewer troop choices. |

All great points. From a completely personal point of view, I'm not sure a lot of the current story scenarios balance very well either! Roast Mutton being case and point. Also had issues with Bridge of Khazad Dum. Anyway, I'm more than happy to tweak them for personal use. Her ladyship is also intimidated by size (how she ended up with me… hur hur hur), so I've been trying to scale things down to coffee table scale. e.g.- Bridge of Khazad Dum does really need 48" length, but width too? 24" suffices. Roast Mutton can be played on 24" sq perfectly well. etc. I've also written a couple of my own. I'll post "Riddles in the Dark" when I've play tested it a bit for some good old fashioned feedback. Feanor has been kind enough to supply me with a decent folder of OOP scenarios which I shall be cataloguing and tracking down on a spreadsheet. The general idea is to document each scenario concept, break that down in to however many iterations it has been through, and list its published source for each iteration (where possible). When I've got something to show I'll post it up here, and perhaps enlist some help with regard to the materials I don't personally own. |

Totally agree Mertaal, a bit of common sense should fix many issues. I had an idea for Riddles in the Dark too, very interested to hear how yours plays |

Watched your latest video last night. Great stuff. looking forward to playing that myself. I hope you're going to video your Riddles! I need to do a bit of play testing before I can get a first draught written down, but it's close to being there. |

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0Aksa54RD-D81dEdlbS10R3RkQjBic2VBVjRoU2xXaUE&output=html So far I've preliminarily catalogued the Hobbit rules book and four of the five army list books. I don't actually own the Fallen Kingdoms book at this stage. Obviously until I've finished I won't be able to assign "version" numbers to the different editions of each scenario. I also need to read through them more carefully to establish if they are basically the same version with different wording, or if there are any actual changes. For now, the number of question marks in the "version" column denotes the amount of times I have come across that exact scenario so far. |

Thanks guys- that's really helpful. Feanor has provided me with a bunch of PDF's, but I don't know where all of them are from necessarily, so being able to track them down to books I don't have is great. So far I have avoided the regular points match scenarios as they are reproduced so many times, and aren't quite the same as the story scenarios I've identified as the subject of this project. |

If you have any questions about were particular scenarios come from, just ask. You can send me list of things you don't know about. I should remember where I got them from. |

The Lord of the of the Rings Two Towers. The Best of White Dwarf Magazine. (I wish we had something similar now!) Duel on Zirak-Zigil (Mini Game). Faramir's Escape. Race to Bruinen Ford. The Wrath of Rohan They're Here. Battle for the Dwarrowdelf Don't Disturb the Water. Wizards Duel (Mini Game). Some of these scenarios are given elsewhere and are given as battle reports, but the full details of the scenario have been included. Also there are two "Mini Games" that are scenarios with their own unique rules! |
