Post subject:  FOTN - scenario deployment query, (now battle report links)

I know FOTN is a bit old now, but recent DOS has got my interest again...

Had a look at second game from this book last night :"In the nick of time"...

48" x 48" board... wood elves deploy first, within 12" of one board edge, and high elves, deploy last, within 6" of opposite board edge.

Evil forces deploy after wood elves and are deployed between the two elven factions; specifically, orcs deploy within a 6" wide band through centre of board, and the rest of evil forces (wargs, spiders, bats and wraith) MUST deploy AT LEAST 30" FROM board edge opposite the wood elves... there is nothing mentioned about being a certain distance from good models... so does this mean these evil models could be deployed into the wood elves own deployment area? And if so presumably up to 1" from the wood elf models?

Thanks for your thoughts.

I realise the good side auto gets priority for first turn in these scenario books, unless otherwise specified, so such a tactic could be risky anyway for evil side, but I wanted to check I was reading and interpreting this right.

Cheers
Scott

Cliffhanger haha,

The battle report is intense; the Wood Elves need to step it up, or else...; I think Nature's Wrath should have been used earlier. How come Legolas did not aim for Khamul early in the game?

The scenery adds tons to the enjoyability of the scenario. Will you be posting the rest of the scenarios from FoTN?

Thanks, Yeah I know... please remember we haven't played the game for some time, neither of us are master tacticians of the game, and my 10yr old son is easily 'distracted', so remembering key time to cast stuff like Natures Wrath etc is not always going to happen...

Legolas was nerfed in turn one by a charge from a bat swarm and hasn't got off a shot yet... but yes I agree that would have been a good tactic...

So I guess we are not show casing wonderful tactics or how you should use your troops, but we both enjoy the game (setting, look and game-play) and hope to provide an entertaining and visually appealing read none the less...

Yes we hope to work through the rest of the campaign series with reports for each, so watch this, or that (see sig below), space! ;-)

Cheers and thanks for reading
Regards
Scott
