As you wish my friend... There are 24 letters in our alphabet :-D

And you know alphabet is created from the names of our first two letters
A,α= in a word it is spoken as a but alone alpha
Β,β= in a word it is spoken as an v but alone beta

I think we have a misunderstanding here... I was talking about Ancient Greek (which apparently is different), because that's what you learn in Dutch secondary schools (at gymnasium level), and its impossible to understand :-X

Modern greek and ancient greek have very much in common...
Same alphabet, only very few words changed and a little different grammar...

Oh Greek looks awfully difficult, i don't envy you at all, imagine teaching 5 year olds that.

Although, the words in the Greek alaphabet are some of the coolest ever.

5 years old? We start our lessons since 4... We have two years learning letters, words, numbers and then we learn all the grammar

I meant 4 (as its the same with us, only even more slowly since we have less to learn than you,s o most of the 1st year [reception] is spent doing little), its just 5 is a nicer number to say.

Also, I remeber, alpha, beta and gamma as being differnt types of radioactive substances, gamma a ray, and the other two as objects.

Alpha and beta is announced in words as a and v in your language...
Gamma does not exist in your language... It is the noise o a w in a word nbut not the whole w...
For example why is announced wouai, wou is w the simple w of wou is the gamma...

Hilbert, I think Gothmog is refering to the fact the English language uses a lot of Greek names (for letters) in the world of science and math.

Examples listed in Greek Name (Field of Use): Alpha (statistics), Beta (statistics), Gamma (radiation), Sigma (Calculus), etc.

Alpha and Beta are also used for radiation. Pi, Phi, Theta, Ro, Delta and lots more are all used in math (mostly for stuff that applies to circles and triangles).

In fact, my calculus homework (which is online) has a little menu that has the entire Greek alphabet.

(no offence to any Greeks, also not in my earlier posts, just dealing with one of my three youth trauma's).

That is what I meant Hilbert. That and Draugluin about that Alpha nad Beta are also rays

@Telchar, I do like Greek in that sense as one of my favourite teachers from school (yes it is possible to like them) taught physics, and I remember Alpha, Beta and Gama radiation, and he even brought one in to show us (it was in a sealed and very thick container), {I also rememer the water-powered rockets and home-made fireworks}

Ancient greek is the most ancient language that has survived and is much useful really... :yay:
