Post subject:  Custom armies?

Well, here we come to the middle of February...a rather special time of year for me...seven years ago, I was introduced to the Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game as a late late late Christmas present (it's been seven years already  ).

In that seven year span, I have painted thousands of toy soldiers and played hundreds upon hundreds of games.

However, several of those projects and games have featured an ongoing fantasy called my Forodwaith army. Men and wolves and werewolves all mixed together in one Good army ready to crush the forces of Sauron. They currenly are on the block for painting and converting.

So here we go with the discussions:

Has anyone else ever thrown together a custom army. Right now I'm in the rewriting stages of the Forodwaith, updating the rules, balancing them out and coming up with the appropriate fluff and LoME lists. If you have used a custom army, what is your experience with them? Did you convert the figures, or did you use proxies? Were the forces balanced?

Share your experiences below!

I've been thinking of doing an entire count-as army of Haradrim raiders, using them as riders of Rohan and Suladan as Eomer or Eorl... Right now it's just a matter of cashflow and parent approval...

I guess thats not as elaborate as your idea, but, hey.
