What sculpts of characters by GW do you think they could never ever get right? The big offender here is the Monkey Twins. The first lot came out at a time of great models, with the Khazad Guard and Glorfindel coming out in the same time. Then we got the Monkey Twins who were all out of proportion and weird and looked out of place especially next to the plastic elf warriors. When we got them in Heavy Armour it was slightly better but they still looked strange and not proportioned very well. I also don't think the shady elites the Castellans or the Black Numenoreans were very good. Too bulky and Warhammery However the plastic Morgul Knights and the Mouth of Sauron were great sculpts. On a positive note, they got Halbarad spot on. Both sculpts are of a very high quality and look great and dynamic. |

Never was a fan of the original Arwen model myself. I'd say none of the released Aragorn models have been particularly good in my opinion, the poses just look off balance and awkward in combat. But I'd have to say the Arnor Warriors and the Laketown Captain as well as their own are by far the worst LOTR sculpts, they look like fools out there against a Uruk or anyone really lol you just can't take them seriously with those stupid feathers in combat |

The sculpts that I particularly don't like... 1. The latest Legolas sculpt...durp durp durp 2. The knights of Dol Amroth have awesome stat lines but the helmets are too much for me so I've never got any. 3. The plastic 'Rangers of middle earth/gondor/arnor'...to me they just looked out of proportion and weird in places. Always preferred metal models over the plastic ones |

Some were dodgy like Amon Hen and Heroes of the West, but we also got Fellowship, Breaking of the Fellowship, Black Gate and Helms Deep Aragorn models which were absolutely great. Arnor Warriors were terrible, as were the Knights of Dol Amroth. Really shows WETA's vision trumps GW's. |

I actually quite like Arnor, though I did cut my Captain's feather off. |

The original Arwen was downright scary...the redo is much better. The Twins are really the biggest fail for me because I want to use them but am disappointed with both versions. And it's the only time I can recall GW having a redo on a model and still coming out bad. And in many cases where GW has come up with their own model (not based on a film or at least leveraging something from a film) they seem to fall back on their 40K roots with oversized swords, spikey armor and skulls. :-P Generally MOST of what they do to reproduce something from film is pretty tight though. |

While I hated it at first, the latest legolas sculpt is actually pretty well done. He is that fat-faced in the movie which was surprising. I vote for Faramir in armour - its just some guy with massive teeth in armour and they didn't do the helm right either. Not sure about the later release of him, but it doesn't look right to me still. Add to the list the "warhammer faramir" model where he had 3A. From the new range - I'm not convinced they got the trolls faces right but I would have to say Alfrid and the Master of Laketown are not even close IMO. I might also add - anything they made themselves I don't think they got right - shades, bat swarms, gulhavar, dwellers.. |
