I was just thinking, as I find myself on a constant hunt for good looking proxies. You know, just in case. Anyways, I was looking at crusader age minis particularly at middle eastern forces on the hunt for harad proxies when I thought to myself, PJ mentions in one of the commentaries that his haradrim are based on middle eastern influences AND aztec influences. I then turned my eyes to some aztec themed minis and found myself thinking many of the same thoughts I had regarding using middle eastern minis as proxies. Those thoughts being, "Hey, these would make a good looking proxy." What do you think? Would you use aztec themed minis to proxy your Harad force? To be clear, I have lots of Harad already, I was just pondering and trying to generate some conversations. |

I wouldn't use Meso-American troops for LOTR personally. I think the look is too different on the whole. Foundry make some nice ones if you're tempted though. I would be more inclined to look at Gripping Beasts plastic and metal arabs for Crescent and Cross. Although thinking about it, something further south like Tupi might work at Woses.... JDE |

Personally there's a lot of Games workshop stuff I'd love to proxy and think there could be better. I like the haradrim though. They rep a force to me that looks the way they should. They're mysterious and can't be painted any scheme. Aztecs or models with less clothes on besides only an eye opening or face could be cool but I think that fits mahud more. Either way proxies from Aztec models would be awesome. I love the era from 1492-1800 with the Indian/natives of the US and their looks and wargesr so to speak. Looks very cool. |
