You have the first part correct, Carn does indeed mean red. But, I'm looking for something else on, 'Dum'.

Carn Dûm could also mean red valley.
(Dûm comes from Tûm)

Alright, I need three (correct) answers.

Sam got a sack of apples as a gift.

1: from who was this gift?

2: How many apples did sam use before reaching the gates of bree?

3: Merry also got some gifts (from someone else), why?

  • Nob and Bob
  • 1, thrown at Bill Ferny
  • He received a horse from Butterbur as compensation for his being stolen

1 correct

2 could be, but not the answer I'm looking for
(I think the question should be: How many times did sam use an apple before reaching the gates of Bree?)
So it could be right but what is the other answer?

3 nearly, but Merry didn't had one lost HORSE

You ARE hard to appease. :P

1: Well, I already have that one right.

2: 2. He was eating one as well as the thrown one.
3: Ponies, even. He was given Bill the pony after losing theirs.

Please tell me this is right, I've now read chapter 11 twice.

Pah, I'll do it in 5.

The good part with these multiple section questions is that it makes it more difficult to get the answers, so this is one that may take some research. Then again, it may not.

At the time King Ellesar came to the throne of Gondor, how many
A) Kings of Gondor,
B) Stewards of Gondor, and
C) Princes of Dol Amroth
had there been (not counting Ellesar himself), and what were the names of the ones at that time?

1) 36 Kings of Gondor before Elessar

2) 26 stewards

3) 22 princes of Dol Amroth

Current King: None

Current Steward: Denethor II

Current Prince of Dol Amroth: Imrahil

:)

I believe Anduril has everything, except Faramir would have been the current Steward.

Oh darn.....I was thinking before Elessar came to the throne, not when he was on the throne :-X Would editing my reply be considered cheating? :? Either way, my new answers for current King and Steward are king: elessar steward: None

Given that I hadn't replied yet, I'll accept your edited form as your answer.

1) Correct
2) Correct
3) Incorrect

4) Correct
5) Incorrect
6) Correct

You're slightly off... you may want to reread Longbottom Leaf's post, and you have the wrong (but only slightly out) figure for the number of Princes of Dol Amroth.

I thought Faramir moved off with Eowyn to Ithilien. I didn't know he was a steward :? .

22 Princes of Dol Amroth, though, counting Imrahil.

Sorry, sort of forgot about this

Easy, easy questions, with multiple parts:

1) what were the weapons and armor the fellowship carried (In the books)

2) How many orcs did the fellowship kill in Balin's Tomb in the books before the orcs fled?

3) Who killed the captain of the orcs at the gate in Moria?

:-D

1 I'll just take the weapons and armour at the moment they leave rivendell.

Frodo: sting, mithril coat
Sam: numenorian dagger from barrow downs
Merry: numenorian dagger from barrow downs
pippin: numenorian dagger from barrow downs
Gandalf: staf, Glamdring
Aragorn: Anduril
Boromir: longsword, shield, warhorn(not really a weapon but it frightens orcs)
Gimli: short shirt of steel rings (chainmail?), axe
Legolas: bow(and arrows)

2 13 orcs

3 Aragorn
