I only remember I had Blastoise and Pidgeot in Red. I through away all of my Pokemon games some months ago. Oh those memories...

I also prefer Haunter but I love Gengar as well and strove to have them in every Pokemon game I played.

I quite agree with Bartelomeus- Red or Blue, indeed. It was a moving target, but Charizard, Zapdos, Articuno were a must. The others didn't really matter- they were revive food for those three.

In recent times (FireRed/ LeafGreen)- Charizard, Flareon, Khangaskhan, Dragonite, Rhydon, and someone else... (Though I do remember a time that I played through with a Squirtle, Eevee, Persian, Pikachu, and two others- 'twas goin' for the 'cutsie' team, I was- Squirtle was lvl 62 before I finally beat the Elite Four.)

Blastoise, Pidgeot and Onix were three big favourites when I was a kid playing Pokemon Blue.

Nowadays I tend to use the Eeveelutions, Growlithe and Vulpix, Quilava and Dragonair.
