Hello All, I have a simple question about the finecasts and painting. Do you need to prep (wash in warm soapy water, fine scour the surface, then use resin primer before painting? I know from working with resin models that this step is very important to help adhesion of paint.
Thanks GoR

I have only purchased one Finecast model, the Terminator Librarian from 40K, and these steps were not necessary. I did check for mould release agent, and when I did not find any, I assembled the model and primed with my normal spray primer. There were no problems with paint adhesion, but it is a small sample. Your mileage may vary...

Jonathan, how do you check for mould release agent? Is it visible?
I assumed Finecast does not require special preparation because I didn't see any special instructions on GW's site. I had some paint adhesion problems with Sauron, but I assumed it was because I had primed it in quite cold conditions (didn't have any choice).

Definately wash finecast before priming - I didn't wash gulavhar and had a nightmare getting the paint to adhere

The mold release agent, if I'm not just goofy, is a shiny, oily film. I have only seen it in some of the deeper crevices of certain models. I very rarely find a model that needs to be washed, and I rarely have paint adhesion problems.
