My brother got his Amdur, Lord of Blades model in the mail today, and I have two problems:

1) I now have to face this walking banner in battle.

2) The metal figure, niftily enough, has its title embossed in its stand. However, this keeps it from being able to fit in his stand.

Before he spends thirty hours of his life filing the thing down, I want to know some things - how do you attach these guys, and do all heroes have those embossments? Thanks in advance!

Almost all metal models have them, they're not normally problematic but some are thicker than others, especially on certain minis. A minute's worth of filing usually takes care of it, it's never a serious problem.

Raukov said it all. every metal model has its name on the stand (apart from 'Guards of the Galadhrim court' who just say 'elite'. i wonder why?) it just needs filing sometimes.

Cool. Anyways, i found a solution:

My Rangers of Ithilien came with some extremely loose stands. Happily, I had some spares, and gave a loose one to my brother. Now, I just have to scrounge up some money for buying my own new heroes (Faramir and Damrod!) and we can play an inaugural game on my gaming board!

I always have more problems where the bases are to loose.

I noticed in one of your post you mentioned Hobby Lobby, With luck there may be a Big Lots near by too. Look for a cheep rasp ( course file). They will have something. It may be worthless for any thing else but it will work for this. With the rasp it will take longer to find the tool in your tool box than to clean up the base. It should cost no more than a dollar or two.

If the metal is too heavy to file, just file the slot in the plastic base where the metal is thickest. I use model glue for most but if it is really a strentgh issue, I use 5min epoxy.

I usually just cut the stand off, then glue the mini to the base, but with Amdur i would suggest not doing that. I tried it once and it took me about 10 minutes to get it off.

instead of spening too much of your life filling it off just file the inside of the base a little to make the opening wider

what he said. or just use an exacto knife on the base. 5 seconds of work and it fits.
