Hey guys,

I ordered some greenstuff of ebay 36 inches of the stuff for a bargin price!

I'd say im a pretty experianced gamer as ive been doing this since 10 and now im 17. But this is the 1st time ive used green stuff. Im having trouble with it always getting sticky, fingerprints flops over D=

Any advice you guys could give me? would be some good help.

And also if im going to make a minature from sctrach would i need to make a wire frame?

Best thing to do about fingerprints on GS is... tadaaaa! ... don't touch it! Use wet sculpting tools or rubber brushes, but try not to touch it. If you really have to use the fingers, make sure they are wet.

Armatures are really, really handy. They provide a nice support to stick the GS in and also give you a sense of the proportions right from the begining. There are commercial armatures (ebob puppets, for instance) but even a scratchbuilt bent copper wire or paperclip will do. I'd point you to a couple of articles that we have on the Library, but they are currently off limits.

Keep a small sponge in a shallow cup or something so you can have enough water handy at all times. That will make it a lot easier to keep your fingers damp.
However! If you also keep one soaked with a light oil like WD40, you can dampen your tool on that instead. It won't hurt the GS (I've been doing it for years), and it'll make it amazingly easy to smooth things down when you put your water-covered fingers on it.

Also, since the eBob articles are out of reach at the moment, I will also give you this advice: start with simple conversions before you sculpt a whole mini. It's easier to learn how to control your tool and the putty by starting with simple projects than with the full complexity of a mini.
