hi all i would like to paint some of my dwarfs with red hair but i have tryed this before and they always come out looking a strange shade of red or orange. Has anybody got a good painting formula for painting this colour? TAI SidTheSloth |

I start with painting the hair yellow and then watering down blood red and using as a wash straight over the yellow. Once dry water down some scorched brown (mix a little black to the scorched brown if you want really dark red hair) and use as a wash again. |

I tend to start with scab (or Khorne) red and add highlights of orange and then a second highlight of yellow ~Brian |

I have two methods of painting red hair, one is a basecoat of Dark Flesh (Doombull Brown in new colours), highlighted with Red Gore (Wazdakka Red, may take several layers), and the second is basecoat of Scab Red (Khorne Red) highlighted with Blood Red (Evil Sunz Scarlet). The Red Gore version can be seen in the 2nd picture from the bottom, Dwarf on the left: http://chrisgomhobbyblog.blogspot.co.uk ... n-and.html The blood red version can also be seen in 2nd picture from the bottom, Dwarf on the left: http://chrisgomhobbyblog.blogspot.co.uk ... dwarf.html |
