So now that nearly every model in the game has variants of their hand weapons, how do you all plan on doing these conversions? Swords are not good for every single model, so what are your plans? I'm considering buying axes and such from model companies but for everything else I can't find. Where the heck can you find rods, hammers, and flails as bits? Anyways let me know what you guys think |

I'm not planning on using the new weapon rules much so all my models will stay with their current hand weapons. Gripping Beast sell 100mm long spears which could be cut down into staffs I guess. |

Gripping Beast also sells a lot of different weapons. You can find them here: http://www.grippingbeast.com/shop.php?CatID=2 (also lots of shields and other interesting stuff). I don't know where you can buy seperate flails, but I know they are included in the sets by Fireforge-Games (http://www.fireforge-games.com/). Each box contains them I think, and the miniatures are very good in general. I'm sure you could find a use for them (converting them to Gondorians, Rohirrim, Men of Dale, Elves perhaps). |

One could also make a flail or whip out of thin wire, with a ball on the end. |

Here is another possibility from Perry Miniatures: http://www.perry-miniatures.com/product ... ts_id=2569 |

A company called Ebob still sell a few bits I think for reasonably cheap, and my experience with them was that they fit the scale of lotr better than some of the others I've used http://www.ebobminiatures.com/products/components.htm |

Personally, flails, whips and scourges don't seem that great. I would stick with axes or swords. |

Draugluin you are probably right, however the loss of fight didn't seem too terrible for goblins. Also hammers are fine I think, but they could be easily converted from axes I bet. |

Well, if you find your goblin in the situation where it would need to use a flail (by being outnumbered), your pretty much screwed anyways. With hammers, if you're able to know someone down, you most likely will be able to wound them as, if not more, easily by just just striking them. Imo, axes and swords are the only really useful weapons, with flails and maces (and staves to a lesser extent, they seem like they may be useful relatively often) being very circumstantial. |

With as fluid as wargear in army design can be (I'm often shifting points around to tweak lists) I can't imagine actually converting models to specific hand weapon types for WYSIWYG. I don't want to have to buy even more models just so I have the flexibility of shifting around what they are going to be using in a particular game. For some forces (basic Orc, Morannons, and Rohan) there is already some variety and I'll probably play them WYSIWYG just for variety. But even that may not be consistent. For those of you already using the new weapon rules what are your thoughts on conversions vs. list flexibility? |
